YES! Excellent!

Must be full time by now, an excellent result for the new management team, well done boys, you have done us proud today. Looking forward to the next 2 home games and seeing how Bateman continues to stamp his mark on the team, hopefully it will continue to have the same effect.

REALLY wish I had gone now!

Fantastic result all round - Cleeve are down there with us on the periphery of the relegation zone, so I was expecting a tight result, but to come home with four goals and three points is immensely satisfying for all concerned. With the near-comeback against Cinderford and today's apparently attacking display, the team appear to be responding positively to the new management team.

Two extremely winnable home games against Abingdon and Bracknell coming up. Whatever you're doing Steve, keep it up!

Great performance. Yash played right wing in a strict 4-4-2 with Bubb on the left. Slough won the toss and decided to play into the hurricane which persisted all day. The goal came early when Yash got the ball on the right and crossed. The ball hit a defender and ignoring shouts for a penalty Yash got the ball back and crossed for Byrne who headed against the bar and in.

Much of the pressure on the Rebels goal came due to some long throws and some brilliant curling corners which the defence did well to keep out against the wind.

The second half was always going to be difficult for Cleeve playing into the wind with us playing on the break. A foul on Allaway gave Bubb the chance to curl a beauty into the top right for the second then another free kick by Bubb was curled onto Harper's head who easily found the net. The fourth was a defensive mix up which allowed Yash to nip in and knock it past the keeper although it may have been the defender that got the touch and it just ran into the empty net.

The biggest difference over other games was we played, and stuck to, a 4-4-2. Proper lines in defence and midfield.

Byrne played very well and I thought Keen was excellent. Webb at left back was our MoM in my opinion although everyone played well to be honest. Jacko kept his clean sheet with a breathtaking save from a point blank header with almost the last kick.

I hope Cleeve survive. Great setup, nice fans and their keeper was a great laugh and didn't desrve to be on the end of a 4-0 defeat.

interesting to read the thoughts of someone who was there

sounds promising especially having the players play the formation instructed to and sticking to it which wasnt always clearly the case at times this season

Yep, as Ian says strict 4-4-2 with Yash on the right with the new boys in centre-mid and DJ and Platty up front. Harper right back (and played very well there) with Webb left-back and Byron left-wing.

First-half was far from easy with that wind and they pumped balls to Julian Alsop up front for them at every opportunity. Jacko made two decent saves first half when it was 1-0, but we also had chances through DJ and Yash.

Second-half we bossed it. Byron had his best game for a number of months, and Evans and Allaway were solid in defence, but the new boys in midfield were excellent. Passed the ball well and showed us what we've been lacking in the central area.

We even started to play some really good football, which we have not done for a long-long time.

Excellent team performance in a formation that suited the team rather than the players, and here's hoping that we can do the same Tuesday. Thoroughly enjoyable.

That is what has been lacking all season.

The team was 4-4-2

Jackson

Harper Evans Allayway Webb

Romeo Keane Byrne Bubb

Platt Jordan.

Very good display from everyone, they were all trying the whole 90 mins. The mid field was very productive and solid Keane was a good cut above the rest though, looks like he's got a bit of class.

Bubb scored great free kick and he looked interested the whole match.Harper scored a great header made from a Bubb free kick.Bryne and Romeo got the other goals.

It was a very polished display, though having said that Bishops Cleave were not a good footballing team, they only looked dangerous when pumping the ball up to their giant centre forward.

Thanks Mr Bateman for making the journey worth while.

The biggest difference is that the team stuck to a strict formation and as a result Cleeve didn't find much space and only threatened through the giant Julian Alsop, who was dealt with well by Evans and Allaway.

Kean and Byrne did a great job for us in the centre of midfield. Not sure where they are going to play when everyone is fit, but they gave us something a bit different.

Overall the first half was quite even with both 'keepers making saves, but we were dominant in the second half and I don't think Jacko had a save to make. Once we went 2-0 up, we found a lot more space and time on the ball and you could see confidence had risen. The full-backs, Webb and Harper, were also able to get forward and support the attacks.

Good stuff yesterday - let's keep it up and beat Abingdon on Tuesday.

Matt Said "Kean and Byrne did a great job for us in the centre of midfield. Not sure where they are going to play when everyone is fit, but they gave us something a bit different".

Oh dear Matt are you having us all on.Surely by now you understand a bit about football.Your statement above is ludicrous, Keane and Byrne will play in midfield as of yesterday I imagine, because I don't see 2 others at the club better( of those that did not play I mean ).

To my mind ( and I you have to admit I have been right about everything so far )those two will be first on the team sheet after yesterdays performance.

Maybe, but Steve Bateman will probably want to see a bit more of Fermie and Fenton, who were not playing yesterday, before deciding on his best XI. On the basis of yesterday's game, which is all we have to go on, they look like good signings.

Felt sorry for Steve Benbow in the Cleeve goal, making his debut as usual keeper injured. His defence were awol for the whole game, worst I've seen them play this season. I thought Benbow was their best player. We (Slough this time) had a game plan and it worked. As said above Allsop was silenced up front, in fact his most telling contributions game when he was helping out his defence. I too hope they stay up, and we stay in the same division - ten minutes to a game suits me!!!!
