ETFC v's Witham

I know a lot of you have the enthusiasm of a wet dish cloth on todays game, but lets have a view of how things are gonna go prior to kick off and not be a wise man after the event, I for one will treat all hindsight comments with little relevance.

 

I think that the Town will have a steady approach however can not see a lot of goals in this game.

 

I'll plump for a 1-0 or 2-1 home win, without a lot of fireworks.

Best I can see is a draw 0-0 as I cant see where our next goal is coming from.

 

Have you noticed how few teams foul us in front of the b0x thus stifling Rudi's efforts.

100% improvement on recent outings, yes I know it was only Witham but we struggled against them two weeks ago, although with the game won at half time the 2nd half was a bit routine, but there was a lot of positives, McCoy again was excellent & alongside Jones looked very solid, Billy Healey was lively & had a good game, now unless there are injuries there is no reason what so ever to change the team for Concord on Tuesday, lets see shall we!

I thought the only difference between todays game and Leyton (apart from a reservoir of water) was we scored early and took a second chance soon after as well. We were out the blocks pretty sharpish and felt it was a stable performance thereafter with Witham's chance of scoring coming in the last minute of play.

Their keeper should have gone on the half hour and we should have had a certain penalty in the second half and how our sub missed his chance to score from an inch is beyond me, his embarrassment was saved with the ref seeing his effort as a corner, that was remarkable.

It was only Witham and it was a touch on the easy side. Concord will be a game to look forward too, should be a tougher test for us.

We must'nt let a win cover our cracks though, Healy, Blower and Allen wont get away with todays performances against tougher opponents. Hat off to Healy, he worked his socks off and I'd settle for a goal like his today in every game, but I think he'd get eaten up by better defenders. I thought Blower was a bit weak and Allen rusty.

I'd move Allen to right back, hoping Reiss Noel could fill in at C/Half if fit. I'd throw in another combative C/mid player and play Edgar and Campana as very wide men to support and provide the improving Ellis upfront.

I also thought it was a nice atmosphere today but winning makes people happy, well most people anyway.

Supporters want to be entertained and "hope" for a win.

 

Today the entertainment level was much better and of course the win well received.

 

I thought the overall atmosphere was much improved by the effort shown by ALL the Players today. It's one win, so let's not get carried away yet, but, the attitude all round was much much better.

 

I would certainly give Healy a few starts as he showed good approach work and a williness to work with Ellis. I thought the two of them played well together, but they will need a run of games if they are to improve.

 

If it ain't broke.....don't fix it!

 

Build on the confidence 3 points and a couple of goals can bring.

Thank God it was a better display by ETFC otherwise the parent/guardian might have had to answer to the appropriate government authorities for placing the child in emotional danger.
