Sweets interview in the Express

Every club has a forum. Maybe we suffer sometimes because ours is probably the busiest of any club in our league, and therefore every supporter is tarred with the same brush if someone doesn't agree with a certain opinion.

Personally I can't believe players turn down moves just because of one or two peoples' criticisms on a web forum, no matter how harsh, but if it happens then it's a shame. As a club, I don't think we are any different from any other fans in terms of what we want to see on the pitch. It's good to have a platform on which to debate issues, provided it doesn't turn into unnecessary abuse.

It is an interesting one and i felt that it was a bit unfair as everyone is entitled to their opinion, although the slagging off of players is damaging but players should take it with a pinch of salt really so i can see both sides. There did seem a lot of excuses though in the interview.

I see that the herne bay manager has actually said that the fans have cost his team the kent title

This was taken from thisiskent.co.uk/Sport website

BARRY Morgan reckons that the unofficial fans' forum has effectively damaged Herne Bay's Kent League title challenge this season.

The Bay manager said: "If the forum hadn't been there we might have 12 more points to our credit."

"The young players read the stuff that goes on there and it affects their performances."

It is an interesting comment. But I would say that if the players were put off at the potential of being criticised then they are better off being at another club. You would want to rise to the challenge. If you want to just go and turn up and get your

Sorry Mr Sweetman like most of your interviews in the press it was full of excuses. Most footballers that I have worked with were self centered and egotistical about their ability limited or otherwise. So they are not going to worry a jot what you or I think-just excuse after excuse.

So long Mr Sweets you had your chance and failed as RWG said you would.

Welcome aboard Mr Bateman, make us respected again.

I agree with Martin, if the players aren't big enough to take on a bit of deserved criticism and filter out the doom mongers on here (we've worked out who's full of **** on here so I'm sure the players can) then maybe they aren't cut out to play football at this level.

Imagine what some of these over sensitive players would do when subjected to one of Steve Browne's infamous half time talks?!

It's got to be a joke surely.Players not wanting to sign for

slough because of fans making negative remarks on their forum.

I think most of the criticism on here is fair but sometimes it does go too far. I've spoken to players at the club who think that it sometimes over the top and also to players who have left and have been upset by things on this forum. Whilst criticism is part of the game, the personal attacks on here overstep the mark.

Lots of little gems in the interview like:

Yet despite being relatively calm about the situation, Sweets feels that he did not get the time needed to do the job properly.

The management team were very patient and other clubs might have fired him months ago.

What a load of bull, full of excuses to the end, injuries , the fans saying bad things, did not have enough time, etc.

Also liked the bit about the mutual parting on Monday - so the club had not lined Bateman up before then? He was given the bullet as he was full of excuses and could not deliver what he said.

He should have gone after Xmas, RWG was right he was not the man for Slough Town FC

I think your all out of order on here, from what i understand sweetman and team stablised the tem brought in better players but you lot are trying to run before you can walk! you want sucess NOW! we gave dave mudge time and he established us as a solid top 8 side but it took a few seasons.. ok the players calibre having watched you a couple of times has not been up to what they are capable but the way you lot slate swwetman on here is bang out of order for all the work he put in! you are all fickle fans and when your not in the play offs or promoted next year i bet my last dollar Steve Bateman will get the same stick you have given sweetman! thats if he sticks around because as soon a s a bigger job comes around he will be off... Good luck!
