If truth be told I wouldn't have started last night's game at Southchurch Arena. Sure, the pitch was playable, and the freezing rain was no more than a pain in the ar5e, but the howling wind blowing in from the sea was literally making the floodlights sway! I genuinely thought there was a possibility of at least one of them falling!

 

Having said that, once the game started, it had to be finished, as the conditions remained the same throughout, so it was disappointing from my point of view that the Bees tried to get the game abandoned at half time. If we weren't 4-0 down by then would we have done the same thing?

 

In any case, the consensus was that even at 4-0, in such extreme conditions it was far from over, and it all depended on when we'd get our first goal back. The fact it took until the last 5 minutes, having by then conceded another, was down to our own failings. Southend Manor was simply the better team on the night.
