Thanks to Derek and his team, as others have said, the commitment and passion for this club were never in doubt and I hope that, like previous managers, Derek feels welcome to come back and watch a few games alongside us fans.

Bateman has a hard task ahead of him, so while I welcome him in his appointment, can I be the first to appeal for a decent "bedding in" time before we start expecting miracles from him?

Personally, I hope we keep the vast majority of the squad we've got and bring in a few much needed midfielders, rather than some mass exodus. Looking forward to hearing about Tuesday (am at rehearsal for a play that night).

I would love him to have some 'bedding in time' but I don't think he has any.

IF we lose tomorrow against Cinderford we then play 5 teams that are at the bottom of the table with us interspersed with Totton away!

He also managed to beat the league leaders, Farnborough.

They obviously needed to get promotion this year and hit the panic button.

Their loss our gain. If we'd panicked like that we'd have had 10 managers this season!

I'm starting to feel better about my club again, the last 3 seasons have been draining and this one looked like we might have turned the corner on the playing side (off field we have). Yep,RWG was right all along, have to admit it.

Now.....can I get myself to a game again, the AFC Hayes one finished me off.

Derek Sweetman was probably the most decent man I'm likely to see manage this club. Results dictated he had to go and he'd have understood that but he was a thoroughly decent guy who deserves huge praise for doing his best. At the end of the day that's all you can ask of people.

Thanks, Derek. I hope you keep the 'Rebels star' that Scarlett gave you at the Abingdon game and remember that despite the fact that it didn't work out you'll be fondly remembered. Thanks for your efforts.

Good luck to Derek, Steve and Calvin. I sincerely hope you get back into managing/coaching elsewhere and enjoy it.

Unfortunately the change simply had to be made though, as the results haven't been good enough. I agree with Chris, we've had two or three good results but at the end of the day the tactics have been bad and we've been found out too easily. That's down to inexperience and hopefully Steve Bateman can sort that out.

We have 14 league games left, so that's one third of the league season for Steve to work out his best side and build ahead of next season. Welcome back and good luck, Steve.

Here here.

And thanks Derek for at least giving us something to cheer about at the end of last season after having to rebuild an entire squad at such short notice, when most people had given up hope.

It is unfortunate, but it was right that Sweets had to go but overall it has been a lot better than last season. There have been some good moments. We seem to have fallen on our feet with the new appointment which is my main worry with a change at this time of the season. How did we manage that?

We have a lot of critical matches now and we will be seeking to settle in so the team does need our support.

Hope evryone can get right behind them tonight and push them to a win.

Up The Rebels!
