feel sorry for the management that have gone but football isn't about nice guys but about getting results especially these days

looking at what Bateman has achieved as manager i must say he does look a very good appointment

not sure how many players will leave with Sweetman or how many Bateman will bring in but hopefully the upheaval of players isn't too large and what needs to be done to stay in the league is done for now and in the summer we can build properly if Bateman feels its needed

RWG has certainly got his wish, but it seems a good appointment has been made. im just very pleased we did not go for dave mudge. that would have been a huge disappointment. sad for derek and his staff, but credit where credit is due to the chairman for acting now rather than when it is too late. welcome back to the club steve.

I would like to thank Derek and his team for their efforts over the last year or so, like many others I'm sure. It is a shame it didn't work out for them, very nice guys but unfortunately it is a results business.

Good luck to them.

Also, welcome back to the club Steve, here's hoping for a successful reign as manager.

Sweetman remember came to the club with a handful of games remaining and nearly kept us up. he then attracted a lot of players almost all of which were/are a hell of a lot better than most of the 60+ players we had last season. it was just getting those players performing well and as a team that just didnt quite work out

hopefully this is start of a successful future for Slough Town though us as fans must realise it wont happen overnight and keep to our duty of supporting the team starting tomorrow night

I would like to echo ARAS's remarks, and thank Sweets for his time and efforts since he came to the club.

Hopefully Steve can get the players consistently playing at the standard of the Windsor match, or close to it, for the rest of the season.

Of course we want to thank Derek -Steve and Calvin and the spirted efforts made, but something was not right and for this to have this fester along just would not have helped all parties...in the long run...and the split was needed.

We move on ...in this crazy world of football.

and wish our new manager (Steve) the best of luck and good wishes..and welcome back to a different Slough then the one you left as a player...but a lot of us are still here too !

cheers chris s

First of all again, thanks to Derek, Steve and Calvin for putting in all their effort over the past year or so. As supporters know it's not only match days, but training, scouting players, managing players, scouting opposition that's involved. Best of luck to you all wherever you all end-up next.

It was defintely time for them to go though, but such a shame as at the end of last season there seemed an excellent spirit and air of optimism as pre-season came after the news of the reprieve.

However, I personally thought things were not right starting from pre-season, and despite us getting in some decent players apart from Paulton away we've had no real stand-out results and we've got a far better team than where we are sitting in the league.

The Bateman signing as manager seems the right choice on paper. Several cup finals with Hemel, got them in the British Gas Premier play-off's last season where they lost to team bath and most importantly in the short-term he knows what it takes to get a towards the top end of this division. I hope the supporters give him a teriffic reception Tuesday.

I've heard he's a bit like Sweets in terms of not being a shouter, but i'm sure he'll bring people around him that do that. As far as I can tell only Jacko may have spent any time under him during his time with Chesham.

May have to make a few unpopular decisions and get rid of a few "fans favourites", but that may be needed for the side to progress

Good luck Mr Bateman!

Totally agree with everything said, Sweets and co were very very nice people and had a good crack at keeping us up last season. It hasn't worked this year despite a few standout results. The home match with Truro was cracking as was the away win at Paulton. Thanks chaps and good luck.

But definitely the right time to act, Steve Bateman now has an opportunity to have a look at the current squad and try a few things out ahead of next season. Then with a positive pre-season we should be able to improve next year.

Quite relieved and excited. Looking forward to tomorrow, let's give Steve a warm welcome back but keep immediate expectations reigned in!

Firstly, good luck to Steve Bateman on your new appointment as manager of Slough Town.

I think expectations of Steve Bateman will be high right from the off and he has to be up and running very quickly.

We are possibly only 6 points off a relegation spot and in the next few games we are due to play Bishops Cleeve, Abingdon, Bracknell and Burnham.

Lets hope most of the players are not too despondant and realise the reasons for the change of manager because to make wholesale changes of players at this stage of the season would be catastrophic to our chances of survival.

Windsor, Truro, Totton, Beaconsfield?

I'll give you Windsor although to be honest they did have 10-men for much of the game, but home draws are 'not stand-out' results which we had against Totton (who were without their top striker for our game) and Beaconsfield - good results yes, but not stand-out.
