A good first half performance saw the Urchins go in at half time 2 goals to the good, following well taken goals from Joe Sweeney and Jake Dallison.

W & F came out for the second half in more determined mood, and had levelled the scores within 10 minutes of the restart. Some neat football was played by both sides thereafter, but few clear cut chances were created. The Urchins then saw their hopes of victory in normal time dashed when Chris Stowe's penalty was well saved by the home keeper.

2 - 2 at fulltime, and straight on to penalties as is traditional in the President's Cup. The Referee decided they were to be taken at the wrong end, according to one W & F Official who complained too many balls were lost at that end before huffily offering one ball for the shootout. He told the Ref it was the only one he was going to get!

The first W & F penalty was confidently tucked away, and Jamie Salmon replied in equally confident fashion for The Urchins.

The second W & F penalty was also scored, and up stepped Elliot Styles to smash his penalty past the keeper.

The third W & F penalty was also comfortably scored, and nerves were beginning to jangle amongst the throng of Urchins supporters huddling together under the palm trees against the icy conditions. No need to worry - Joe Sweeney was on hand to despatch his spot kick with ease.

The fourth W & F penalty, much to the chagrin of the W & F Official, was skied high over the bar and out of the ground. It took some time for a replacement ball to emerge from the depths of the kit room, but Jake Dallison was undeterred and comfortably knocked his spot kick home. Advantage Urchins.

The fifth W & F penalty was struck well enough, but slammed into the foot of Michael Bowditch's left hand post and away.

A well-earned victory and on to the final. Negotiations are now under way for our first home tie of the competition.
