He was ineligible but .... from Ryman web site

On 2nd March, 2009, Ramsgate Football Club protested to the League that Tilbury Football Club played a player, Daniel Jones, as a substitute in their Isthmian League Cup match against Ramsgate on24th February after the player had appeared for Great Wakering Rovers Football Club in a previous round in contravention of League Cup Rule 10.2.

Although Tilbury Football Club have admitted the breach, they have pointed out the protest had not been made in accordance with League Cup Rule 14.2.

The Committee accepts that the protest has not been made within two days of the match in accordance with the Cup Rules, and have decided that Tilbury Football Club remain in the Competition and go through to the next round.

Tilbury will play Staines Town in the Quarter-Final this evening (Wednesday 4th March).

All seems very hard on Ramsgate

From their website

"Ramsgate FC would like to make it clear that at no time did the Club or any individual attached to the Club question the integrity of Tilbury FC or lodge any protest with the League. After an anonymous telephone call to the Club clarification was sought from the League as to the status of a particular player. The League then of its own volition immediately announced Tilbury's expulsion from the competition.

The Chairman was initially reluctant to re-enter the competition but the Club were clearly told by the League that if Ramsgate did not play the game this week Staines would be given a bye. It was therefore agreed that the game would be played this Wednesday.

Ramsgate wish Tilbury every success in the competition but do feel that the confusion caused by the initial decision of the League and its subsequent last minute reversal has been most unhelpful to all three clubs involved."

The appeal they never made fails because it was not made quickly enough!
