The beginning of the end for Ebbsfleet???

I see that Ebbsfleet membership is way off the mark with just over 9'000 members.A drop in over 20'000

I fail to see how this club can survive in its present format.

I for one am not unhappy about this as i didn't like this venture to start with and the constant bickering on their forum which has actually driven most of their original fans off of it is ridiculous.I am also happy for the odd gravesend fan who came on to our site back in 2005 gloating about our demise.

I am unhappy for those true ebbslfeet/gravesend fans who like me support their local club through thick and thin who have been treated like idiots by some of the myfc new people

i didn't agree with it but in principal it could of possibly worked had there not been so many little hitlers and backbiters within the 30'000 plus members.I think the fact that many of their members were from so far away, places like the US and other countries as well as many from the other end of the UK didn't work in their favour.Had they suddenly got 5'000 members extra from the ebbsfleet area who would constantly go to games then there is a steady income other than the yearly payment but gates dictated this wasn't the case.

Many members of Myfc are actually fans of other clubs and in principal its nice to part own your own football club but when your loyalties lie elsewhere you will always follow that team with more vigour than one you pay

it was 35 quid rob and the problems weren't from the members, but from the people running it. nice little earner for them it seems.

would be good to see them in the ryman, i think unc has more friends at afc wimbledon than he does at ebbsfleet grin

They have nothing in the tank Dave, money-wise. However, they have a Trophy quarter-final tomorrow away at Wrexham which may prove to be the make-or-break game.

Two-thirds of the original 31,000 haven't renewed. The membership numbers continue to fall as renewal dates for more recent members come up - and whilst there are still new joiners, they are not going to exceed those who don't renew. We are tracking it very carefully on our freemyfc forum - anyone who is interested, come and sign up for nothing on www.freemyfc.com and look at the facts on there - or you can view the public forum without signing up. We've had about 50 new members this week!

Interestingly, the national press and online sites have been covered with threads about MyFC this week. The guy who set it all up, Will Brooks, does of course have a background in the media. However, it's backfired on some of the sites where there have been many more comments criticising those in charge of it all than there have been encouraging remarks. It has been a bumpy ride for some of us, as some on here know.

You might find this strange(or not?),as one of the most vehement anti-MyFC'ers, I don't(entirely)blame MyFC for Ebbsfleets troubles.

I blame the previous Board of Directors!

In the last year or so of their tenure, they made some(at the time) seemingly strange decisions, with hindsight, maybe not so strange, if you are trying to offload a Club that is haemorrhaging money! It didn't take a financial wizard to work out that the Club was playing well above it's level on crowds of less than a thousand each week!

Decision 1: We can't afford to carry on playing part-time football on our income, so we are going full-time, it will be cheaper(?)!

Decision 2: Let's chqange the name from Gravesend & Northfleet(Over a hundred years of history!),to Ebbsfleet(A town that has yet to be built)in hopes that the thousands that move in will instantly become fans of the Club! Maybe the people of the two towns deserved this, as they have failed to support their local club in large numbers!

Decision 3: Even though we haven't any money, we will need a new stadium(which is badly needed) to accomodate all these new fans!

Enter Will Brooks with a promise of X amount of pounds stuck to his sweaty palms, Directors see a way of recouping some of their money and still be involved in the Club, as opposed to selling out completely and being out in the cold!

Of course this is just my(and I think a lot of other peoples)opinion!

For those of you in the BBC London/South region, watch BBC TV Local news at 6:30-ish tonight (Monday 23rd.)

I imagine the lunch-time piece shown today will be repeated then. Quite interesting !
