Disgraceful - stats and report

The reporter also writes the reports up immediately after the match, and without the benefit of any video replay.

He also checks the scorers with the away officials and with the home officials as well. At the time of the first goal, everyone was in agreement that it was number ten.

The video is inconclusive. Not one Ashford player congratulated the number nine, so did he really score the goal?

As it happens, I dedicate a lot of my own time to volunteer work for my club and as I have written match reports (both in the past and from time to time now) I fully appreciate how much time it takes to put them together. However, whenever I have written a match report I have striven to ensure it is fair and balanced, which is not an impression I got from this particular report, which struck me as sarcastic and biased.

Being that critical of a referee might also invite trouble from the League, as happened to a friend of mine at a (now ex) Ryman League club a couple of years ago.

I realise that it is difficult writing a report when emotions are still running high, but that the NLP deadlines demand it.

I'm sorry if I've upset anyone and I certainly didn't mean to give the impression I was trying to run down anyone's efforts on behalf of their club.

As I've already said, good luck for the rest of the season.

well i think we are in trouble anyway wingnut with 2 of our managment team sent off from the dugout by the inept ref,we have lost plenty of games fair n square down to bad luck or the better team but this ref was a disaster lost control early on for which in my opinion was a keenly contested match the ref influenced the outcome of the game at a time when the urchins had taken the game by the scruff of the neck and threaten to run riot hence why feelings on the terraces were runnin high all round the ground

Balderdash Mr. Wingnut! Please explain how 'we' are 'inviting trouble'. AFCH do not run this Forum and there is a little caveat on the front page of our website which says "All views and opinions expressed on this site are those of their respective author(s) and not necessarily the views or opinions of AFC Hornchurch."

AFCH did not criticise the officials.

Well I was at the game, and had to leave when the final whistle went for fear of saying something to the said ref that I'm sure I would have regreted later..............

Sorry but you have to be at these games to make any comment on the officals.........I have seen plenty and by far this was one of the worst............

I would like to make a couple of points before I retire from this "debate".

To Serious Sid: I didn't actually say AFCH as a club were inviting trouble. I am aware of an incident a few years ago involving a friend of mine who is part of another club. He was contacted directly by the League and asked to "clarify" a match report he posted in his own name on an unofficial forum. He is still involved at his club, who are now in the CCL and it was to his little misadventure that I referred. I could have probably explained that better.

To Blackballed and indeed, anyone else who thinks I "want a long debate about things I didn't see"): I haven't commented about the referee at all. I didn't think some of the match report was appropriate, so I commented on that.

I seem to have upset you all, so again, I apologise for that. I didn't think having an opinion made you a "cnt", but UM obviously does. Fair enough. This is an Urchins board, and I'm not an Urchin, so I shall take my viewpoint elsewhere.

Uncs, I read the report in the NLP........ I wondered what it must be like to be left with a woman in charge??????

Wingnut, I in no way was having a go at you old son, I try not to make any negative remarks on these forums as I do not feel it helps anyone, this was just my opinion and how I saw the way the match was handled, and having been around for quite a while its the way I read it.

Feel free to post as you see fit about about football matters on this forum, and yes you should not have been called a c**t.

From someone who realy cares about nonleague football.......

bollox,i am not going to apologise to someone who has slagged off someone who reports on the games for f*ck all, doing it for the love of the club.

I would of had respect for you if you would of come on here and gloated about winning, thats fair game imo.But instead wingnut came on here picking holes in anything that dagger done and then we found out he done it all without even attending the game.

You are trying to talk your way out of trouble when yesterday you was making all sorts of remarks. We could do without smart ar$es like you to be honest

UM I for one nolonger read Daggers reports as I go to most of the matches, and make my own opinion, but I can see someone from outside reading them and not understanding his tongue in cheek way of reporting, so therefore give them the benefit of doubt.

Hello Urchins,

Just a couple of points could do with clearing up here.

Wingnut had the same reaction to the report that i initially did. When i first read it i thought Blimey thats a bit one sided and a severe ref bashing to boot. Since i have read it again with the "tongue in cheek" advice i can see the way it is written and supposed to be read. Wingnut also made the point about the Smith/Harrison goal mix up. It is difficult to know why Harrison was ever connected with the goal because he is black and Smith is white but mistakes happen. I would like to point out that i do not know "wingnut" but i feel the fact that he was called a "cnt" for nothing other than giving his opinion is more damning on the person issuing the insult. I have stated on our forum how i thought your website was excellent and the fact that you film the games and show the goals is a real treat for everyone, well done. I would have liked to see more actually the "dive" booking would have been interesting to see. Someone has also said they would be ok with oppo fans gloating on here, so here goes 3-1 3-1 3-1 !!! thats aimed at my mother in law who lives in Elm Park!! Have a good rest of season.....

yes,our player did dive and should of got a yellow,it was enbarrasing.

I called wingnut a cnt, possibly because i had just got out of bed this morning and i haven't had sex for 5 days.

No one would have a problem with you giving it 3-1,thats football. What i took exception to was once wingnut had been told the context of which the report is written and that the reporter could of made a mistake he continually slagged the reporter off,the bloke does it for free and his own time and they are meant mainly for our fans as its our forum but from time to time someone,(who has not even watched the game) comes and gives their views but does it slagging the reporter off, thats not on,is it.

5 days! wait till you get to 5 weeks then come on here and complain!! Ok, i see your point. I also read Daggers report on our 2-0 home win against you this season. The ref is blamed again there. I do remember that he was very poor that day but for both sides. Is Mr Dagger a ref LOVER? they say you always have a go at the ones you fancy. :@)
