But a higher club has come in for him and off he has gone.

True, but he hadn't stayed fit and hit form, so I guess it's more a case of letting him move on to free up wage money and allow him to play than being able to ask for a transfer fee. To be honest, I'm just guessing here, I really don't know how the ins and outs of transfers and contracts work at this level.

What about assisting the club in these troubled financial times?

Surely taking Ricci off the wage bill, almost 5 months after last kicking a competitive ball for the club, has done exactly that?

Can someone therefore explain why put a player on a contract if the club is not gong to financially benefit when they leave apart from 'taking them off the wage bill'? Why did we not off load him 5 months ago and we would have saved even more!

Part of my convo with Steve Browne included the players on contract systems. He is confused at the policy of players on contract, unless they are 18-21 age groupish who still have a long future and potential of a transfer, thus gaining the club another source of income. Not my specialist area, but he seems to know exactly what type of committment the club should expose itself too.

Sounds like this Steve Browne fella is a hell of a bloke, knows everything, and Townies saviour to boot. Wonder why he has never done it though when he has been in charge. Still not to worry cos he ain't the Number 1 and you appear to have turned the corner nicely, so must have found his true vocation.

Correct me if I am wrong, but your comments are taken as one of an envious onlooker.

Have you spoken or ever met Steve Browne? If you have, then you needed to listen and know your footy to have an intellectual conversation with him, if you have'nt then your making loose comments.

At our level we dont need contrcts unless in there is an absoluely outstanding youngster, who is potential transfer material and to be fair that is rare and to the experienced coaches opinion.

Ryman North is just above good park football standard (thats what Stevenson and Campbell, just to mention two, do on a sunday morning) and so these Alderton and crace contracts are ludicrous. Its good that Steve Browne is on board, as he has loyal players willing to fight for team selection and not throw there toys out the pram when there match fees have been cut by a few quid o been dropped.

Who are these new players loyal to then?.

Why couldn't we just say thank you to Ricci for what he did for us and good luck in the future?
