Tooting reaction

They had 4 or 5 excellent chances to score in the 1st half from what I can recall. They weren't half chances as is mentioned.

They were chances that were more or less guaranteed to be goals but on the day Mullins made 4-5 super instinctive saves. Our defence were poor in those instances but they sure made up for it afterwards & especially in the 2nd half where they were unbeatable & on their game throughout.

For the rest of the 1st half it was pretty even I thought with us doing a fair share of the attacking too. They certainly weren't all over us like a rash.

Like mentioned elsewhere we were being caught on the break as has often been the case of late.I was dreading their first attack (after 15 minutes I think it was) as so often happens we concede (against the run of play).

I think this is where MM got the wrong impression,

understandably.

Yes, we could & should have been dead & buried by half time but only because of those handful of excellent chances they were presented with. Overall in that half we were equal to them at the least & territorially we probably shaded it.As for the rest of the report I think he got it about right.

I couldn't make the game on Saturday (heard Wellsie's excellent commentary for the first time!). From all the reports it seems to have been a classic 'game of two halves'.

But why? Was it the half time pep talk? Did we change tactics? Or did we just happen to get a goal and that caused the oppo to chase the game?

I'm not so sure there was that much between the two sides in the first half. Tooting had the better chances and perhaps two or three more; our chances just seemed to go straight at their keeper or just(ish) wide of the target. I still think overall we were good value for the win.

Our goal straight after the re-start was crucial and I think losing Corbishley unsettled the balance. Gregs did well on that side but it took him a while to get into the game. Ironoc that we spent a number of years wondering where our left footers were going to come from and then we play on on the right! I did expect to see McGibbon come on for Gregory, but what do I know!

The system we're playing is realtively sophisticated I think. The wide players (Robinson and Corbishley/Gregory) give us a back 5 when we need it and numbers across midfuield too, but that coulped with an attacking three - Peters and Healy just behind Kenny - gives the whole side a fluid look that must be awkward to defend against. Just need someone to score regularly and we'll be fine.
