Bad News - AGAIN !

WELL - I think the slight change in weather has just about fecked it all up yet again.

Severe weather warnings out this afternoon - This time flooding.

A quick look at Meadowbank and the Pipp-Brook along side almost convinces me we could be looking at 10-14 days before returning to a playable pitch.

NOW - What time does the bar open again ????

these pitches need a nice slope to let the water run off!

Seriously though, for decent draining I think it will be a high 5 figure sum and I don't think many clubs can afford that.

Hopefully Nut will post if this is not true

name and shame then krooner!

leaving aside my old hobby horse about groundshares, Im all for the league (and FA) ensuring a playable decent pitch is available throughout the season, apart from extreme weather.

Unfortunately the rules would suggest getting a 100 seater stand in place is a bigger priority. good place to count the puddles from.

Agrereed they have Number One but any league should be able to cope with a couple of weeks bad weather in a season and not have to talk about extending the season. Every year it is the same on this league with, in the majority of the cases, the same clubs struggling to get their fixtures in. I would propose that if a club calls a home game off more than once against a team that the fixture is switched to the other club. I feel it is unfair for a club who get the majority of their games on to have to wait 2 or 3 weeks without a game at the end of the season just to play their last one. This happens every season on the CCL and I feel that what I suggest would get around that. It happens in most youth leagues to make sure fixtures are completed and works well.

there is the archive, you can see how many games have had to be fitted in in May over the years.

Not too bad Id have thought, though the year the champion side didn't play its last game was bloody silly, and div 1 doesnt play all its games it seems.

do we need all the league cup competitions, various county cups, local tourneys played during season?

Could the league set up a "help" squad?

A ground I know (!) has a particular problem in one area, and has an idea about what to do -ish.

I think it would be good for a club to be able to call on the league and say we know we have problem a, what's to do? they say ah yes four clubs had this problem and the answer is blah de blah, see companies a or z.

Or for the clubs to join together and buy some equipment that could be sent round the clubs and get this work done.
