Isn't it time the FA got their act together and decided who can call a game off.

We travelled 40 miles to support BTFC, after working on the local refs decision only to find it called off when we arrived at the ground.Surely we need one ref to make one decision for the benefit of travelling home and away supporters.

No real surprise - Think about it - Ref turns up thinks - 'Hmmm, why risk a bollocking from the crowd & frostbite over 90 mins when hey ! I can claim 1/2 me match fee for doin nowt, Thank u v much, I'm off to the nice warm bar !'

Not a difficult decision methinks.............

To be fair to the lad's at NEW Lodge.

we worked our bollox off to get the game on, I'm sure the Urchins would do if they had the same club commitment.

Needless to say we will do all we can to get the game V you lot to go ahed as planned.

What a disappointment that was and a shame for everyone who put all the hard work in to make the pitch playable and to the supporters of both sides who had wasted journeys.

I hung around for a bit afterwards and my understanding is that both Billericay and Tonbridge wanted the game to be played.

However the referee Mr Hyde (should that be Hide?), who was to be assessed in this game, decided that the muddy bit in the middle might cause him to make a mistake. We offered to put more sand on the areas that he was concerned with, but he refused to wait for this. Game off due to mud - Fck me that's priceless. The referee, it seems to me, has acted solely in his own interests and not in the interests of anyone else. Ref bottles it - even before game kicks off.

I'm led to believe that our Essex FA Rep was at the "game" and was also suitably unimpressed.

Let's hope the predicted bad weather doesn't arrive and we can get Tuesday's game on.

Come on you Blues!!

With the fixture pile-up getting extremely serious........

1) Why can't the teams be allowed to play on Sunday, if mutually agreed ?

2) Surely the club(s) should formally request an extension to the season NOW in order to bring some sense to the matter.

I can see where you are coming from, but when the season ends the players go on their summer breaks and extending the season would mean they get a shorter amount of time off from the end of the season to the Pre-season period.

I bet you he was quick to pick up his fee and expenses after that decision. Surely the club shouldn't be expected to stump up to pay for that Numpty?

JL is correct from what I heard, after he had dissapeared or should that be Hyden. If it is in fact true that he in effect called off the game in case he got a poor assessment mark then that is unforgiveable and I hope the club will take the appropriate steps to ensure that this p**** does not get put in charge of a game at this level again. As well as pissing off all the helpers who got the pitch playable he has cost the club about

we had it earlier in the season.Game called off v heybridge,if it had been before this recent bout of bad weather the game would of certainly gone ahead. The pitch was fine but the ref was basically worried about health and safety(or himself getting cold)he took his money and looked more than happy with it while the football club probably lost 3-4 grand because of his decision.c**t

I realise these options probably won't happen - Instead the players will end up with the untenable situation of playing x3 games a week - Their performance & fitness will obviously suffer, injuries will increase, the team won't probably gain the points required & the fans will also suffer the consequent inferior games & results - NOT good !

been thinking about this the last couple of days,we are going to suffer from the fixture backlog probably as much as anyone else.Is playing 3 ganes a week that bad????

surely the players will actually get fitter???

i am no expert but i feel that to much emphasise is put on players at this level not being able to cope.my own opinion is that after a few weeks of them playing twice a week at least and plus training their fitness should increase.only problem is that playing 3 times a week will increase the likelyhood of injuries, this i feel will actually be the ultimate decider in how well teams do

Sorry mate - Looks like you've never played serious football or are extremely naive - Believe me ONE game a week plus training is HARD even for full-timers - Just to say yeh but they're young & fit is just Blx - The quality WILL suffer - Christ if they find it tough in the Premiership.............

Playing three times a week will effect the quality and possibly the results. To even get through that situation, any club will have to have a large squad of players to cover for the enevitable string of injuries that will occur with the "pressure" of playing competitive football 3 times a week.

It's a situation that every club wants to avoid. There are also problems with extending the season. Players have to be paid and at present are contracted to the end of April or the last game of the season. Players have been paid for the weeks where games have been postponed and any extension means extra cost to clubs that can ill afford further expense.

What angers me is what happened on Saturday. One man took a decision for purely selfish reasons and did not appear to take into account of any other of the factors. Our groundsman even offered to get those that helped in the morning back on the pitch to sand the area he was concerned about again. He refused the offer. In light of that, I am of the opinion that he didn't want to play the game at all but if he feels that he wasn't good enough to officiate a 90 minute game of football with the pitch in the condition that it was then he should not be a referee.

Tne FA asks us all to respect these people. We were told by the "local" offical when he inspected the pitch that our match official would "respect the work and effort that had been put into the pitch". Mr. Hyde showed none of those attributes.
