BOROMAN
GB, agree with your sentiments in the thread and I would like to move on (I keep restating my position to Coachie but he wont take it on board..... I have offered him an Olive branch and he just hit me with it). However at the risk of becoming boring I have to state on here what has just come to light and I think should be noted and question at league HQ. It appears if I have read a certain post correctley that the Hullbridge groundsman is a qualified ref and took on both roles for the 9.30 inspection. Whilst he may have done it in the best interests, surely that is a compromise of position and should not be an option? That's it now, I will move on and not mention it anymore. Come back MEAN IT MICK!
Golden Boots
Boroman - I haven't really read into the Hullbridge thing too much... I'm not sure how similar ESL rules are to Ryman rules, but if the match official who is scheduled to take the match in question is unable to inspect the pitch, an alternate officials decision can be sought... Be he a club official, a groundsman, an astronaut, or the Pope... But I appreciate your point of conflict of interest... Down to the League now though... One mans opinions/rantings should not damage what we have here... I respect your views, and the dignified manner in which you have approached it above... Agree with you on the last point... Mean it Mick come back...!
and1inthetree
coach never hid that at all. the match day referee called it off. whether or not this was so as not to show up mr chittock is another matter entirely and one which i shall not comment on. have to agree with you boroman, there does seem to be a conflict of interest. "Gordon Chittock, which is a referee assessor and our groundsman inspected the pitch at 9.30 and told the match day referee that the pitch wasn't playable. He took his word, the word of a well respected former senior referee but some of your lot were not happy about it..so the match day referee came in and called it off at 11.30.Is that enough for you now or you're still going paranoid?Everybody wanted the game to go ahead but if the ref says isn't playable, accept it and shut your gobs, end of.We understand you're under pressure to play games as we all are but that doesn't give you the right to make snipers remarks about the decision to call the game off.And think about i had to leave some strong players out of the 16s for today...shame..." The Boy's come Home!
If the match day offical says the pitch is not fit then whats the problem?? This has been blown out of all proportion! We all wanted the game on... we had a full squad and haven't played for a few weeks so why would we want it off? It doesn't make sense to me i'm afraid! The Boy's come Home!
Ok fair enough. i don't mean to sound naive about it but is it not down to the ref to say 'if you work on the pitch we can get the game on'? I think we can all agree that this has gone way to far now though! As i say we all wanted the game on!
