Wingate and Finchley

Remy sent off 14 - retaliation

Jones sent off 60 (having come on as a sub after 54)!! Ridiculous 2 footed lunge on keeper...

We then took the lead after 67... Edgar

We then made it 2-0 after 81 Rudi Hall stunning free kick....##Edgar also hit the post and we could have scored apart from that.... better with 9 men....

Perfect analysis except it was Deane who hit the post.

Overall excellent performance by Town, except for the two straight red cards, which were both warranted, Remy suffered a bad challenge & although I can understand his frustration having just come back from injury you cant jump up & put your head in someones face, even if you dont connect & the behaviour of some Town fans at half time left a lot to be desired too.
Jonah on the other hand made a hideous two footed challenge on the keeper that was so late the keeper had collected the ball & was about to get up!
Rudi spent the first half commiting Jonah like challenges & when he got booked mid way through the first half the general concensus behind the goal was he wouldnt last 90 mins either, however there must have been a sedative put in his half time cuppa as he came out in the 2nd half much more on form & scored a sublime free kick.

Although Finchley were poor dont let that detract from a great team performance by the Town (9 of them anyway).

Bigest thing for me today was the excellent character shown by the players ( well those left on the pitch anyway )

0 - 0 and down to 9 players they did a fantasic job today to win all 3 points. excited

Two very good goals aswell.

I thought Edgar was superb - after he had scored - just shows what confidence can do.

Let's hope we can get a game in on Tuesday and carry on where this left off. elephant

Would prefer 11 to stay on the pitch though !!!

I thought Remy was just a bit stupid and should know better. I understand that was his first ever sending off so the 6 must have done / said something for that reaction.

Jonesie on the other hand was just a red from when he started his run just inside the half !!!! stupid total stupid and RED all day long. evil

Well done 'The Town'.

Sendings off apart, that is a terrific performance and a great result against one of the better footballing sides in the league. If we can continue to show this form, and play with the same guts and determination for the rest of the season, who knows, anything is possible. Keep it up lads, you made a lot of people happy today !

Great win.

Amazing how depleted numbers often raises the bar on the remaining individuals and I think creates an underdog team effort mentality that overcomes the loss of players.

At the same time both Remy and Jones have to realise that the team can win against fair opposition without them and that maybe their contribution is not what it should be from week to week.

Maybe the manager will take note as well!

W and F were not a patch the side that beat us just a few weeks ago but let's not take anything away from the fact that the eventual 9 men of the Town performed so well yesterday to grind out a deserved win.

Let's hope the win is not spoilt with a charge of failing to control the players or supporters. Can anyone tell me why is AJ still at this club costing us money with reckless and dangerous play?

What I would like to know is why should some long standing ETFC 'supporters' think it was necessary to berate and verbally abuse the referee for his performance in the first half? Maybe he should have sent the W and F number 6 off as well, but there was no excuse for the slating he then received. Some people should be ashamed of themselves.

No doubt I will be criticised for my views, but no one can condone what happened at half time, or can they? I was even criticised for being away on holiday last weekend and not attending the Chatham game!

I totally agree with all the above comments. The performance was the best I have ever seen by a Town team.

I'd like to disect the performances and extend a more intricate view on our team.

If we had Tickner, Bastian, Crace, Hammett, playing like as Town of the not too distant past, they would have been joining Jones and Hall in the amateurish bickering and non footballing wind ups that I deem so shallow on the field of play, a bit like the Wingate 6 who could talk a better game than play one. Although Rudi pulled himself round after half time and put in a true captains performance in difficult circumstances, why can't he always do that?

With the introduction of Noel, Woolf, Mackay, McCoy, Edgar and Roberts we have players in a Town shirt that leave the talking to their talents. They come out and play to win and not fight or put in shallow challenges etc etc

These guys have set the benchmark for the rest to follow and if the rest can't raise themselves to a similar quality attitude and conduct then they should'nt be representing our club. Discipline and proffessionalism is the bedrock of every successful club.

I also object to hearing a director of ours hovvering behind the subs bench and passing judgement on who was sub and who selected the substitutes. Whats that about? I feel I have a thorough knowledge of footbaling matters but I would never as a member of the board (if I were one) have the sub culturedness to think I should make such comments or statements when it's not my place to do so, I think someone needs knocking a peg or two down there, over to the rest of the board for that one.

And finally, I totally agree with Gazza with regards to the supporters at half time, the reaction was one that could only be described as embarrassing. The confrontational comments to the Wingate players and the ref/lino's, was also bordering sub culteredness, especially as the FA are doing so much to promote a Respect campaign that will be their for the next generation of kids to follow. Could you imagine the example that behaviour set for any child that was present? as well as the image of our club? What if someone was attending for the first time? they'd think the fans were mad and unpleasent.

As in my opening comments we have players that can do the talking on the pitch now, a vast improvement on the Town playing staff of the past, sorry only 200 were there the absentees missed a treat. I'm glad I made it would have paid double and still feel it good value.

Roll on Tuesday and a slightly warmer temperature please.

Lets hope the main culprit apologises to both clubs, its not the first time this hollier than thou character has had his behaviour questioned, screaming unfounded accusations like a wild banshee at the Wingate players then bizarrely telling the ref he will never officiate a Town game again was indeed extremely embarrasing & as a lady Wingate supporter said he should be ashamed of himself.

Difficult to pick a man of the match yesterday there were 9 of them but I would probaly plump for McCoy, great touch & positioning.
