Whilst I admit I gave out a little giggle at this news today deep down I would prefer us to both avoid relegation & recapture Thanets top crown both legitimately & fairly with NEITHER club losing points unecessarily.
I wont gloat publicly like some of them did (on both forums) when they thought we were getting points deducted because there are genuine Ramsgate supporters over there & they don't deserve this.
Any higher placings we have over our neighbours now will be a hollow victory to me.
It has to be said though that even with 4 points deducted they can gloat even further should they STILL get Thanets crown & or avoid relegation. Be sure that they will be trying even harder to do that now.
We have to prevent that from happening ON the pitch as would have been the case even without this points deduction. We have to earn the right to stay in this division by what WE do not by what THEY get penalised for, though of course I would be a liar if I said it didn't help our cause in a minor way.

Same here Cookie, must admit its looking dire for both Thanet clubs, looks as if both,(unless a miracle happens) clubs are facing relegation,.. but like you guys we wont give up till we unfortunately we are faced with it...(hopefully not)... for either teams

If my facts are right then carshalton ended last season 4th to bottom with i think 50 points so on that basis we (ramsgate) need to win nine of our last 14 league games to stay up (say 13 games as we have dover saturday!) mind you we do have a lot of the botton teams to play. Our hardest games on paper are prob carshalton away, dartford away, canvey away.
I guess for you to hit 50 points you would need to win something like 8/9 out of your last 15 games. I know you end with Staines away but what other hard games do you have?

46 points weill secure 18th this season i reckon.

Last year teams got more points as Leyton were completely cast adrift, but its more evenly spread this season, so you will need fewer points to survive-maybe even 44/45 may just secure 18th, but definately 46 will be ok i reckon.

Got to aim for 50 just the same.

I reckon ramsgate will beat Dover on saturday-i read that Whitehouse in goal (welford played in goal it seems ) and Ball both had nasty injuries tonight and look out for saturday

Certainly don't want to see either team relegated.

Should there not at least be a replay or a reversal of the points if Ramsgate broke the rules though?

As a breach of this rule the rest of the league's teams gain as well as Margate. Seems a tad unfair as Margate are directly effected. i.e. we only gain a net result of one point on Ramsgate whilst everyone else gains four. With the possible exception of Dartford and Tonbridge, but I don't know whether or not they beat Ramsgate in their encounters.

Though of course they would have been safer in the league then dragged back in relegation fight.

No Wardy on radio yet, maybe he has changed his mind wink

I dont like to make fun of or ridicule so ....... I wont.

Not good for Thanet in general let alone the football aspect, kinda hope they can pull through and like us stay in the Ryman Prem as the rivalry makes for good banter.

My first statement doesnt apply to Pagey however!!!! wink

Don't really care how we stay in this league, as long as we do, and if the chance of that is increased by one of our rivals having points deducted, then so be it. The fact that it is Ramsgate makes it all the more sweeter in my eyes! Ultimately, if they have offended, then they deserve to be punished. But, as TSO points out, the deduction they are receiving just makes the result void, whereas one could argue that, without one of the offending players, the results of the games may well have been different.

Anyway, still not confirmed on the Ryman website, so I'm not counting my chickens just yet.

I still hope that both Thanet clubs retain ryman premiership status next season.

Having said that, i never saw ramsgate as the main rival in the relegation dogfight.

Imo-our major 'competitors' are harlow, hendon,Harrow and boreham wood.

Those are the teams we need to overtake as i assumed that we would be good enough to be ahead of ramsgate and heybridge anyway
