Paul Wilkerson has signed a one year contract,. and we have our first new face in Welling midfielder Anthony Hogg who also signs a one year deal.

 

The will be a full round up of this week's comings and goings on the news page tomorrow evening.

I suspect that Anthony is one for the future. Let's face even if Jacko stays, which I think is likely, we don't have a lot of cover on the left side of midfield.

Joffs out of contract at Farnboro!! I hope Hogg develops into a decent player but we dont want to spend the summer getting players in who are not better than the ones we already have or have let go, not that i think we will this summer. Andy knows what he wants and i think we'll get some quality players through the door.

Great Great news, With Macca and Wilko on the books plus others who were on contract, Hopefully. Jacko ( who I personally think will stay) Rob and Benno ( who I have big big doubts about) will sign.

 

Starting to look Good everyone. Agree with Matt we do not want players in who are no better than we have, Unless of course they Club are aware they are not signing.

 

I am hopefully for everyone except Benno, but then I hope I am wrong.

Fingers crossed that Jacko will sign. He is now very close to being the all time leader for appearances, that alone may persuade him + the temptation of a juicy testomonial in a couple of years.

 

Andy is obviously working flat out at the moment, so hopefully he will get most of the squad signed up in the near future. With the fantastic team spirit at the club I don't envisage many others planning to leave, even for higher wages, as I don't believe we have any mercenaries at the club. (Portway left for a bigger pay slip years ago!!!)

I'm amazed that Andy Ford hasn't taken an interest in Sittingbourne's Andrew Drury. Owen and Smith both played for the Brickies before signing for Gravesend. Drury is a far better player, has scored 18 goals from midfield this season, whilst Owen rarely scored for us. Now that Gravesend are in the Conference is he no longer in players in the Eastern Division and below? i.e. would Liam Hatch get a look in now?

Good news about Wilkerson, not to sure on Hogg do not know who he is.

In answer to Brickies we do sign players from other leagues we signed Louie Evans from Tilbury and Luke Gedling from Worthing, i would think Andy knows about Drury.

Good to see Andy Ford is still interested in players playing at a lower level. Understandable maybe, but there are too many managers today who are just interested in today, and not in their clubs long term future. I've been watching football for a long time, and I just like to see a player get the opportunity to fulfill his potential. Glad to get that off my chest!!

It is this ability that makes Andy a top manager. Given his success and publicly stated ambitions, I'm a little surprised that a Football League club hasn't moved in for his services. Their loss is our undoubted gain.

On a similar thread, it is a pity we have never really been able to tap into the support from the local ethnic communities.

With a top local team like Guru Nanak able to attract a top ethnic players and good support, is it worth our scouts keeping an eye out for good local players who would also attract a large number of ethnic supporters to the Fleet?

Just an example, I remember an player (Sukhi Bhatti) I think, many years ago, playing for Sun, was outstanding, and would definitely been up to Southern League standard.

I remember Balbir Beilia played a couple of times a few years back I think he came from Guru Nanak.

Yes, he was a very skillfull player who had a trial with us. I remember at the time wondering why we didn't sign him as he was a very exciting prospect.
