Tue 27th Jan Cove v NGU

Recommended Posts

There will be a pitch inspection at 12.30pm. The middle of the pitch is 50/50 at the moment. Thats all i have heard.

Will update when i get back in at 1.30pm with a decision hopefully.

At the moment the match is still on although a local ref came round to inspect the pitch and said it was too dangerous in the middle to play on. So he called it off and informed tonights ref. The official ref for tonight over ruled it and is coming over at 4.30pm to inspect it himself.

We'll see!!

Just been down to the pitch the ref who called the match off at lunchtime was right the pitch is very dangerous. myself and the groundsman agreed that the middle of the pitch around the centre circle was particuarly bad and in one spot it came over his workboots, for JJ this would be far to deep and to keep him safe we would have to tie a rope around him and tie it to the dugout.

Had a look at the pitch last night just before training and i have to say that it was absolutely the correct decision in calling the match off last night.

The centre circle is an absolute mess. Looks like the entrance to a cow field. Huge footprints that go down about 5 inches filled with water. Looks like a scene from Jurassic Park with the huge dinosaur footprint! Totally unplayable and to be honest, the groundsman will have to work miracles to get the home match versus Cobham on for saturday!! If we dont have some clear weather soon then i can see no home matches for a couple of weeks.

The reserves played on it on Saturday and the centre circle cut up like i've never seen before. Rest of the pitch is generally fine.

Groundsman must be devestated. Bookham and Guildford i'm sure will back me up and agree the pitch was in fantastic condition in August. What a shame its like it is now!!

Hope you get the dry weather soon JJ. Last thing you need is a backlog.

Must say though not sure using Bookham and Guildford as Pitch references is the best idea wink

I will agree with you JJ, we played on it first game of the season and it was in good nick even though there was quite a lot of rain leading up to the game.

Pitches in this league have so many games on them that most are ruined by January, saying that some are terrible in August bolt
