Well it is a toss up between Tundje Oluntundje and Danny Carter (the unstartable goalmachine).

Seriously looking wider.... Andy Jones of Canvey had a lot of class.

One player that should not be forgotten (the Berbatov of the Boro)Jason Friend.

Yeah i have to say there are only 2 for me Healesy and Portway .

concord Minus Healesy = Probably still in the esl . He was an absolute talisman , always got you out the poop when you needed him and he scored free kicks, pens, tapins , headers, 30 yarders , you name it .

Ports was just an absolute legend. He had such an aura about him. No warm up , just come out 2 minutes before the end of the warm up , slam a couple of balls in the net , and then kick off. If the ball dropped anywhere in the box he would be on the end of it to put it away .

Healesy & Ports in his prime, would have loved to have seen that partnership

Ports and Healesy sounds like a perfect partnership to me too.. Mind you some strikers can't work together. Wade Falana and Vinnie John being a case in question.

Still find it hard to believe the Ports unleashed that haymaker after Burnham's second goal at Romford a few years back. The one where your goal went through the hole in the net!

Sly? Fvcking sly? I have never seen a right hander on a pitch that was seen by everyone in the ground apart from the officials. If it had been anyone but Ports, mayhem would have ensued.

I just think that all the supporters and officials, where just gobsmacked that it was him who unleashed it. So out of character.

Everyone saw it i agree, but the law of Ports came into action , and the ref decided that Ports is a superhero and he couldnt dismiss him .

Back to the subject of strikers , I'll throw Gary Ansells name into the pot , before i left Burnham I believe he was on something ridiculous like 16 in 8/9 games at the start of the season, until Burnham decided to trim the budget

Has to be Healsey IMO...

Steve Warner is a great shout though, superb touch and movement even at 40+, still playing as far as I know...

Sad to say, only seen Portway play once, but his record speaks for itself...

Best ever striker in ESL. Does that mean best striker to ever play in the ESL, as in maybe only played a handful of games or just one season? Or best ever ESL striker as in what he did while playing in ESL, amount of goals etc?

If it is the former, I would chuck in:

Tony Mahoney: Canvey

Alan Brazil: Stambridge

Kerry Dixon: Basildon

Played against them all when I was much younger and they were all on a completely different level to anyone I've seen or played against in the ESL since.

I was going to mention him but on checking the stats, he only got 100 or so goals in four seasons before they were promoted to the Athenian League.
