Reserve team graduation

If it was cricket-which players would be awarded their county caps ?

If you go back to summer, was anyone else anticipating more previous reserve team players graduating to the first team ?

Not sure its good or bad that they have'nt.

I reckon you need 2/3 players to make the grade every year to justify the reserve team as a feeder for the first team.

I guess last season-Louis Smith graduated ?

(not sure that quain did ?)

This season, has Morris now graduated in so far as he is a fairly regular starter as well as a` squad memeber .

Maybe Kenny pratt needs to do a bit more to graduate ?

Not sure that Quain has quite graduated yet ?

Knocking on the door-i guess there is Wheatley, Taylor-think they need to do a bit more to get their 'county cap' though.

Maybe its a season too early for them.

Any other views ?

Well if you look back on my reserve reports I think you will find I rated Sam Cliff as one to watch for the future so good to see him in the squad now.

I think Quain has graduated myself as been a member of the squad all season.

I would have thought that given the fact that he may have been on the bench for a whole season a goalkeeper would qualify?

After all, if we have a first choice keeper who plays pretty much every game then it would not be the fault of the sub if he cannot get on. By virtue of the fact that he would be deemed good enough to get on at any time during any game surely that would qualify.

Ollie Gray another one for the future, along with Wheatley, Cliff, and Taylor. Added to the likes of Morris, Smith, Robinson, Gregs, Pratt, Quain and Mullin that's a strong core of local players. Possibility of McAree coming back into the picture. Corbs, Stubbs, Wilson, Healy and Young are all very much an appreciated part of the club too. The future of the team looks bright if we can keep them.

Next season I think Cliff, Wheatley and Taylor could be ready for regular starts. It's up to them to put the work in now to be ready for that, hopefully with Margate.

I would love to see the Ressies pitted against teams from higher leagues in a few friendlies. I remember the improvement in there game after the Kent cup game against Ebbsfleet last season. The Kids are still learning, they need stretching. We have a good reserve of talent for the future, given time and occassional outing with the first team they will come through for us.

Many thanks BGA. I was really thinking of last year's lad who I understood came through the reserves.

I am a big fan of Axon (Quain as well) I think he will make it as he has all the attributes of a very good footballer but he needs to bulk up as physical he looks like he should be playing for the under 14's

Unfortunately Wheatley did not have a good game when he played against hendon.

I am sure it was a temporary blip though as he has quality, is young and will have learned massively from that game what is needed.

You get punished for errors at this level.

Good to see him back in the squad and his time will undoubtedly come again-maybe even saturday-although i too would narrowly favour robinson at this stage.

Undoubtedly though-wheatley has real talent.

Thats where we miss out on KSC and league cup games at this tiome of season, where these guys can get a bit of first team experience

He is still part of the squad Hakuna and indeed was on the bench at Hornchurch. He is more one for next season and of course whilst we have Harwood and Young at centre of defence it would be very hard to get into side. You must remember he is still only 17 sp bring him through slowly but surely. However with Harwood out on Saturday who knows he might get his chance again?

As for Paul I feel he is better off getting games under his belt for the Reserves and the games I have seemn him in he is improving all the time, am sure he will also feature in the first team next season.

I agree 100% Hakuna (Bigmacca). Been following these lads in Reserves for a few seasons so great seeing them come through the system, thanks to that must go some way to Mark for bringing them on too.

I'm not sure how old Treadwell is-but has'nt he already got Ryman Premier experience with Ramsgate ?

Definately a player to hold on to and nuture it seems.

Whether he is ready to go into a relegation dogfight-thats a bit different maybe;and thats probably why TY can't/dare'nt play as many of our up and coming reserve players as perhaps we all would like to see.

Our current position means its no time for experimentation and risk.-certainly not in defence/defensive midfield

(though savage and asibye were certainly more risky than playing the reserves surely, as at least you know the game of the reserve players )
