Ground Grading/Improvements

Recommended Posts

Thanks for that, Justin.

I certainly wasn't sniping or having a dig. Those people who post on here and know me personally know that before taking early retirement, I worked for a certain Authority, so have spies in high places.

I look forward to meeting you at Meadowbank. I might even try and get over to your place on Tuesday evening.

(p.s. Please can we have all the 6 points ? I think you're safe and without 'em, I don't think we will.......)

(pps. Only joking, before someone accuses me of....)

I've said it before and I'll say it again wtf are we accommadating teams without thier own grounds its a fecking scandal, they are like parasites living on the backs of clubs who have the correct facilities,I say get your own fecking grounds and bring them up to scratch just like everybody else has had to,when are the CCL gonna get real and start insisting on this.

Easier said then done. And some/most of the clubs who rent out their facilities simply wouldn't survive without the income.

Thats a touch strong, Duncs.

IF the CCL insisted that ALL teams had their own grounds, a fair amount of the teams involved would just disappear overnight, especially in the current economic climate.

I do realise this is a very immotive subject and there will always be two very strong points of view,

My view is, that if local authoraties REALLY want to promote sport in their area, then they should invest far more heavily in their local teams.

Sadly, this doesn't happen in all local authority areas. I can assure that this subject is discussed at great length on many occasions down at Meadowbank.

I think I'll stop now, before I say something I might regret.

Jurg 78.

You are right , that Hanworth Villa would have to fence the far side of the pitch where the dug out is and round the back of the goal to the right.. it is a shame , that the clubs are having to do all this on the spur of the moment , what with the way some clubs have no money , only what they get from gates money and over the bar, , when we first came into this league , we had 1 month to get things into place . every sat and sun for that month i was over the ground in Ashford digging the place,as well as other committee men. we only just made it in time.

Same time they insist on pitches without a 1:10 gradient or bloody big holes in the pitches I suppose.

Will never happen, ever. And rightly so.

HV is a popular club in that area, they have exclusive sports use of the public park and maximise it to draw in plenty of money. The ground grading committee detailed the work required back in December, so it wasn't spur of the moment. I think the issue is the council preventing them from erecting the fence in a public park. I've played at HV a number of times (always the away side) and can only remember 1 or 2 dog walkers, it's feels like more of a football ground than park so I expect there are a couple of busy councillors doing what they do best.

Got to respond to you (and others) on the groundsharing issue

Duncs. As we've been at Banstead 16 seasons now no parasite will have paid as much rent as we have over that time which has more than contributed our share of ground improvements.

We would love to have our own ground again as soon as possible. We have gained no advantage from groundsharing at all. We have no clubhouse income ..we have lost a generation of supporters in our own town . So we have done well this year that's down to having a good manager and a team tha's devloped well together. For the previous four seasons for the reverse reasons we were struggling...it's got notghing to do with groundsharing.

All we are trying to do is keep our historic club going..should we just cease to exist to make people like you and the Spurs fan feel better about themselves.

Congratulations on your win yesterday even with the rub of the green you got to do it. Honestly don't worry about us when there's so much you can still develop of your own talents. The "Art of timewasting "dvd you should do after what I saw yesterday should be a big seller.... "All the old tricks -taken to the max".

Well done to BGFC too who are surely home and hosed now... I see weeble's taking victory in his stride with his usual good grace .

yes but eefc it is not a good argument that you want to keep your old team going what about the teams that have thier own grounds and want to get thier teams going, weebs remind me again why BGFC don't use thier own pitch and also eefc isn't ground sharing for 16 years taking the p1ss.

Cant tell you that one Duncs as it is a trade secret but finance is involved and wait for it.....Cos we let it out as a ground share......

So you're one of the idiots that thinks that football should be decided off the pitch eh?

Who gives a flying one whether they share or not? What difference does it make to anyone? As long as the facility is up to standard and the team have earnt their spot why shouldn't they be there?

Duncs, what else were Epsom supposed to do? In the south-east, there is pressure on all open spaces that simply doesn't exist in other parts of the country because people want to live close to London. Any club who have to leave their home ground for whatever reason face a real uphill battle to relocate, because of the lack of available land.

Would you try to disband AFC Wimbledon? What about Horsham, up in the Ryman Premier? Groundsharing is, like it or not, a reality because in built up areas there is simply not enough space to build modern stadia for everyone.
