i saw my first ryman match of the season today and wasnt impressed,as a spectacle it was like watching two bald men fighting over a comb.

maybe ive been spoilt this season watching my club basildon united but the fact is that the standard was poor,p!ss poor,i noticed over 50 bees fans there today and there was probably many more keeping a low profile and we all agreed that basildon would have given both teams a sound thrashing.

the basildon coach was there on a scouting mission but rest assured we wont be putting in any seven dayers for them park players we watched today.

havent you got any volunteers down new lodge? if you have why not get them to smarten the place up a bit, bleeding pot holes in the car park, stands which belong in the dark ages and a very substandard match day programme.

why not buy a can of paint, fix a few of the broken seats and yes we know fuel prices are rising but would it have made you bankrupt to turn the radiators on in the clubhouse.

i wont be visiting new lodge again until these issues are addressed, come on ricay, improve your matchday experience.

'Ricay fans are aware of richard193's sense of irony! Anyone who's been to the Hive (and made it out again) will appreciate that.

I have to confess I saw the game slightly differently from Richard lol.....

I thought we sent out quite an attacking line-up but one that looked well balanced. Hx dominated the possession in the first half but clear cut chances for either side were few and far between.

Before the game I was a bit worried we might fade as the game went on, but in fact the opposite was true. For the last half hour or so we were all over them and only one side was ever going to score.

Of course there was an element of luck in Ashley's goal, but it wasn't lucky that he showed the energy and determination to chase that ball down in the closing stages - It's an interesting video to look at in that regard....

I thought our lads battled really well and stuck at it right to the end. Win, lose or draw that's what we want to see every week. I also loved the goal celebration - It looked like the team was really together and was good to see.

Clean sheets are the key. Don't concede, don't lose.

This was always going to be a tough game and we won through. Well done to the lads.

Come on you Blues!!

If ever there was an example of "you make your own luck" then Ashley's goal was it. A 40yard chase down on what looked a lost cause and we bag all three points.

I thought the team worked hard and got their just deserts, I don't remember Tucker having to make a save, and we were due a bit of luck.

Well done Ashley Dumas, well done team, and more of the same please. applause applause applause

It's good to be winning again.

Thought they were struggling to cope with us after we changed things around mid-way through the second half. Deserved our goal and, although a lucky rebound, you have to be "in it to win it". It was just reward for Ash's determination and the 3 points it secured were no more than the team deserved after a hard working display on heavy ground.

Well done Blues!!

Hope we get the opportunity to build some momentum again against Waltham Abbey on Tuesday night.

I thought we just about deserved to win.It was a game of few chances between two well matched teams. The only real save of note was from the turn and 20 yard shot into the top corner by Bradley. The game turned in our favor when Joe came on. I thought Lynvall had a great game. Wayne did well as did Bradley. Tim put in some good tackles but is lacking pace/fitness. Jamie had a poor game for him and got penalized a number of times for the way he uses his elbow when jumping for the ball.

Not the most entertaining game of the season, but a win and a clean sheet can't be sniffed at.

We looked a lot sounder at the back yesterday and more dangerous going forward when Joe came on.

The goal showed what can happen if you keep on working hard.

Lets hope we can push on from this.

I agree with sticks, wasn't the most entertaining game, but we got the points and it is always good to get clean sheets.

It was a game where it was either going to be a draw, or a 1-0 game. And thanks to a Dale Brightly error, it was a 1-0 game, but it was good to see Dumas use his pace and chase after the ball.

Perhaps that will teach him for wasting time.

I thought the team spirit was good yesterday, especially when we scored, it was good to see the players celebrating together.

The key for me was that we worked hard to get the clean sheet. Big Dunc and Heffs were excellent at the back and everything flowed from that. If you keep a clean sheet then no matter how well you play you give yourself the chance to get a scrappy, or lucky, goal. Had we defended as poorly as we did at Harrow the goal would probably have been no more than a consolation, but because we defended well it became the winner...

I thought it had 0-0 written all over it going into the 2nd half and that seemed to be a just score line prior to the goal. Just go's to show what can happen in football.

I was relived to see Big Dunc back from injury himself & Heffs were solid in the back.

Obviously the game would not have been played at all (IMO) If Mick and his helpers had not put in so much effort in getting the pitch ready. Well done guy's

How long do you reckon you will hold onto Dumas for?

I thought he was probably your best player on Saturday. Always looking to pick out a pass rather than go long and hopeful on a sticky surface.

Having played with him @ Burnham for a while, I know he is class, and I reckon he could go pro.

Your thoughts?
