They have managed to get all the water off from Yesterday dance

They have had a overnight frost which is now clearing and they are working on the pitch, in some heavy spots.

They have decided not to call a pitch inpection but, leave it to the match ref at 1pm (which I agree). So fingers crossed we will know for definate then.

Funny this subject has come up as i never thought it would be that bad for todays game. Was out birding with a few chaps yesterday from one of the birding websites i go on,there were nine of us of which 6 were non league footy fans,we were discussing the recent speight of postponments due to the bad weather and how all of us felt that some games were called off for genuine reasons and other games we all felt were called off in conditions that would of been playable 15-20 years ago before health and safety was an issue.I refered to the heybridge game and being a heybridge fan,tom said that he hadn't been to a game since this and probably won't for a while because he has been enjoying his saturday birding and is fed up of his saturdays being spoilt at lunchtime when he could of been out in the field studying birds.

Another chap was a ricay fan, martin is his name i think, who is going today but he also said that because of games being called off recently he had lost some of the interest and had it not been a local derby today he would of probably gone out birding.

What i am getting at is crowds are obviously down for most clubs because of the current financial climate, although i do feel that non league clubs could take advantage of the high prices premier league clubs charge next season when people are pondering whether to renew their tickets at the top level clubs, but non league clubs must really be feeling the pinch this season because of so many postponments,i feel that whenever possible clubs should try to get the game going ahead(which it looks like ricay are doing),if not then they could lose even more fans,at the end of the day,us fans just want to see footy on a saturday and if its on a quadmire of a pitch then so be it,thats why i started watching hornchurch years ago because you didn't get free flowing football on carpets but blood and guts footy on sometimes poor pitches but usually more commitment than you see at the top level!!!

Broken into easy to read segments for those of us who don't want to be sucking into a brown paper bag for air! grin

I remember those days when men were men and didn't mind getting cold, wet down and dirty! cool

Bit of both at the top level i reckon Mental. CAn you really see Ronaldo wanting to get mud in his hair or ice in his boots?

Blimey, i remember being hailed on. So rained on the water dripped into my boots and filled them up! Snowed on! And still could enjoy the players attacking the game!

The world has gone mad... frown

think the players all want to get stuck in. preparing yourself for some blood guts and thunder football, and then being told, nah, the ref is a bit lavender and doesn't fancy it must like being on a promise all day, and coming home to discover the mrs has fallen to the communists.

Agree with you Rob. The problem is when a game gets called off, people either go off and do other things or go to another game.

It only needs somebody to go and watch West Ham or Southend for example enjoy and like what they see and then that's another fan lost.

I can see this bad weather continuing for the next few weeks so I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking on the Friday night "the weather's bad, game probably won't be on tomorrow, I'll arrange to do something else."

I really do think the refs have got to try and be a bit stronger and get the matches on. Goodness knows how much money clubs are losing through these postponements.
