annus horribilis?

Anybody else apart from the Farendens and us having a rotten 2009?

With Golden Girl twice ambulanced to hospital with an acute Asthma attack and her twin brother Ben this week crushed by a 1.2 tonne load he was carrying on his lorry and having emergency surgery on Monday with a 10 hour operation today it has not started well!

Ben was starting to be regular at the town end too!

Grrr!

I think all families have members that are struck down with obstacles of accidents and misfortune.

My daughter (13yrs old and a 07/08 Jet) was diagnosed with a brain tumor in June 08. She had two op's and is now on a long stretch of chemo til Oct 09.

So in my world it's a case of total committment to my daughter for 2009 and can't wait for 2010 when hopefully all will be behind her and those around her and a new begginning starts.

But I try to make as many matches as possible mainly midweek ones now and take the two boys with me as often as possible cos they love it.

So if anyone else feels the worlds against them then your not alone, their are many lives that are effected from the elements of fete or mother nature, it just requires strong phillosophical inner strength to hurdle those obstacles.

So my moto is stay strong.

That's exactly what we did in 2004 when that whole year was taken up with my Chemo. I am in remission now, but it makes you view life very differently, you priorities change.

Not a brilliant start to 2009. The Invisible Girl (none of you will remember Leila, a Kid E in the early 90s, joint winner of the 91? under-10 penalty competition!) has been in the QE2 in Welwyn Garden City for a couple of weeks. She has Crohn's disease and had an op on Friday before last. Although the op went very well indeed she is in a lot of discomfort and isn't home yet. It's a real b*gger I'm so far away but we get down when we can to see her, and her boyfried and the Invisible Young Man visit her all the time (when the latter hasn't got sinnusitus...).

Slightly brighter, Invisible Mother was 90 last week and had a little do.

'Tis great when everyone rallies round in times of need, no matter how far the distance.

Popped in to Enfield over the weekend and enjoyed the company of a (nearly) double hip replacement chap, triple heart bypass chap, and a (so far) survivor of bladder C.

And by the way - great IPA and Black Sheep Phil :-)

Best wishes to all

J
