Dear me...I thought I lost that insult when Chelmsford went up. Never mind... doh

Apologies to all that have taken offence to my posts on here but I still think you're all "barking". I appreciate that the result was disapointing and annoying but certainly doesn't even match the Ashford result as regards performance or that of Hastings, both games where we may as well have not turned up for the second half.

There you go. I see I am in the moniorty (or is it that I am being more reasonable) but I didn't feel ripped off (you pay your money, you take your chance - admission is no guarantee of performance or result - a bit of a "black and white" view and I am sure some will "howl" with derision and anger duel), I didn't feel the team went out with the attitude that they didn't want to win it, I certainly don't think it was the seasons worst performance or even on a par and I shall still support the club through thick and thin (as I am sure others that have posted on here will do). This is certainly not the thinest of seasons, nor is it the thickest. And the club is not in a "downward spiral" although, being a realist, I understand the Chariman sets the budget to reflect the success of the club, ON and OFF the pitch (capitals are mine to underline that the club requires another income stream other than the "football" to be taken into consideration when the budget is set).

Who knows what will happen next week? Perhaps we will beat The Urchins 4 zip and you will all be posting how you all feel that the play off's are a real prospect...perhaps... evil

I look forward to it.

Thanks Ryan for doing the text service - ta mate...

Obviously not being there means i cannot comment on the performance bla bla but i think Steve has summed up nicely the points about over the seasons where we have dropped silly points to more physical sides and upped our game against the more (shall we say) glamorous teams. Now promotion is never a given for any team at the start of a season but if we look back over the years you can see where teams have "won" promotion, be it champions or playoffs. I remember that Aldershot team and that Braintree team from years back and the difference was that they did not concede goals. By looking at that you tube clip for the Harrow goals and you can see our team defending looked halfhearted. We're gonna get punished by any team like that.

Anyway, seeing as i cannot get to as many games this season as i normally would i for one am looking forward to Hornchurch game. Guess i must be one of the few after the folks who went on Saturday.

Another Post From Tash.. He has to be annoyed! Never has he asked me or anyone to post something for him 3 times!

So here it is -

Displays/results like on Saturday are becoming far more common this season. I mention Hornchurch, Hastings, Ashford, Concorde, Canvey, thats a few. One expects the odd below 'par' performance but this many and the way we rolled over should be unacceptable to anyone. Unfortunately I think support will dwindle if more games like Saturday are produced.

In reply to Jl and some others I still dont think we played badly, although I understand what was meant, because we created many chances and played them off the park. the problem was the ongoing inability to score from those chances. Billy may be one of the leagues top scorers but how many times has he scored more than once a game. Who are our other scorers. Jo despite causing a lot of trouble to defences has not been very productive. Both I think have been guilty of missing a number of excellent chances. I dont profess to know the answer to this problem but we must address it in some way or as has ben said we could drift downward instead of rising to the top where I believe this team belongs.

I thought the 9 who finished the game at concord worked their socks off for Billericay Town FC.

I dont think our players are cheat's and I know that they take to the field wanting to win, to suggest otherwise is, in my opinion, foolish. Macca is a big loss

It's all about 'our' expectations. If Harrow were in our position they would be delighted, if Heybridge were in our position they would be delighted.

Our expectations are higher than some clubs, and in all honesty, they are probably too high. I think our team, on the whole, does its best, but its best isn't meeting our expectations.

For Tony to say he's not coming any more because we lost, is a touch childish in my opinion, but if he wants to cut off his nose, then thats up to him, I respect his right to do so.

And before JL pipes in, I agree, ts not unreasonable for us to expect to beat Harrow.

Something has to change, and we will work on that, but in the meantime we should continue to support, and not take things for granted.

Just look around, and be thankful were not in the same boat as Hendon, or any other once great club who has now fallen by the way side. All we have to worry about is winning a few games...and beating Hx of course.

I bet Wabby wish they weren't playing us tomorrow.

Our expectations probably sit somewhere around the level when we came runners up to Yeading or made the play-off final v. Bromley.

If you look at the other teams in this league, and their levels of support over several seasons, I wouldn't have thought ricay fans were being too unrealistic in their expectations. Someone's going up with Dover.

I would agree with your take on where our current expectations sit Rick, I just wonder if a more realistic level pre season should have been, (mine included) if we make the play offs, then we would have had a good season?
At the moment it seems to be for many that, if we don't make the play offs then its been a disaster

Sorry if I'm being a bit fik, Rick, but I don't understand your link between other teams levels of support, and the likelihood, or expectation, of promotion.

I agree with much of what you said, TC, but was interested in the reasons you thought expectations were too high. I think mine were higher this season for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we'd said goodbye to a couple of "big spenders" in the shape of AFCW & Chelmo, so were hopefully going to see a leveller playing-field. Secondly, our new joint managers had a complete close season to shape the team as they wanted it, having had to take-over mid-term previously with an inherited squad.

If you discount the likes of AFCW, Chelmo & Dover we're usually quite high up the average attendance rankings for this league. I was presuming it was easier to put together a squad that can be classed as "contenders" when you're averaging 400-500 at home, rather than 200-300 (I'm sure you wrote a blog post fairly recently drawing that exact corelation?). Maybe it's me being fik smile

The reasons Rick? I just got carried away I guess, I thought we would be in a playoff position, I was wrong, therefore my expectations were too high. I should have expected less and hoped for more. I'm not responsible for what others believe, but I certainly have an influence, Many of those who are now disappointed with our league position may feel that way because I got it wrong.

I am convinced that our major problem this season was injury, but unless we have a trouble free season, then making that top five is always going to be tough for us. Which is why we have only made it twice in the past four seasons.

Yeading and Fisher were promoted with far smaller attendances than average, money is the biggest contributing factor to a winning team, promoted clubs will almost always be one of the top 5 payers imo. Bigger attendance equates to more revenue, but that alone is not enough - unless you are AFC Don's

I know we all want to win and to enjoy promotion, It will come, maybe not this year, maybe not next, but when it does. it will taste all the more sweeter.

Promotion will fulfill our ego, but that promotion must never be won by risking the future of Billlericay Town FC.

I have learnt more in this half season than I have in the previous four Rick.

We have had a lot of injuries this season, but we have still put our a squad strong enough of beating the teams that heavily beat us, eventhough the bench may have been lacking the quality, not every game a sub is needed.

I do agree with Rick, I did think that we would make the playoff's this season, especially with the type of players we brought in, I thought we were going to be a very good squad.

I think your edited version is better Adam.S

I still think we are in with a shout and this may well be the kick in the [****!!****] we need to kick start our second half of the season.

Bring on Rikki's new club tomorrow night.
