SYCOB

It refers to the merger of Slough Youth Centre Old Boys and

Beaconsfield United, who merged as neither club could survive as a

seperate entity, and, if i remember correctly, both sides were doing well at the time but could not progress to a higher level due to lack of facilities (similar situation to Eton Wick, i.e. they

could not progress higher up the Pyramid).

I think a merger would be the death of Slough Town, you would never get the support back to a decent level.

We must keep a sensibility here, SYOCB compared to the original Slough Town are a park side that have done well for themselves, yes we may be at their level now, but hopefully with a new ground( whats happening there by the way-I thought a result on the new ground was due before xmas )we will one day get back to at least conference level.

Unfortunately that might upset a few of you because certainly Sweetman would not be the manager.

The article just states the facts and a reality of their dilema and how at the moment both teams are helping each other...

of course you can read into it , what ever you want too , but I know the current committee are working hard to secure a future for our club too...and with the help of all in Slough look forward to getting us home ...

Think a merger should be a last resort and should only be talked about if arbour vale falls through and even that now has gone strangly quiet. Breen is right what he says about the ground as being where it is its never going to attract locals and i also hope it never becomes our permanant home.

Just hopping on here because of the rumours of Windsor and Slough merging a few years back. If I were a Slough fan I would think is positive as opposed to a SYCOB fan. Slough are the bigger side, have all the fans and SYCOB would supply a ground and facilities. The new name would probably be Slough and Beaconsfield SYCOB and as slough (by far the bigger club) took over the club the name would probably change to Slough SYCOB or something that would revert to just Slough at some point. If no ground is forthcoming would this not be the best option? As the strongert club would you not be driving the merger and get most of what you want? Just a thought...

Hang on, this merger business is just pure speculation. With all due respect to Beaconsfield, despite being a very well run and friendly club, they are punching above their weight and will never get large crowds at this level. They've also been stuck in a league where the travelling to games is a financial disaster.

The M40 roundabout might be ON the Slough Road, but it ain't Slough. If they want to merge, ask Wycombe.
