Being an ignorant yorkshireman I just ponder what that is all about. Never studied it, but how does the team in 6th place have less points than the ones in 7th and 8th ( or is it 9.10. and 11 if you look at the table you will know what i mean). Anyway i am sure some pedant will come on and correct me but hey that is ambient

Table splits in two about March I think. Teams in the top half all play each. Teams in bottom half all play each other.

But the team who is 7th (top of bottom half) has to stay 7th - can't go into top half, as they've played easier opposition than team in 6th.

Geddit??

but. but he splutters, if they did not split they would all play the easy and the hard and should end up in the same places. wouldn't they eh, what. Guess money has nothing to do with it. I suppose it could (unlikely) mean the team in 6th could lose every game after the split and never fear relegation.

If every team plays each other three times - 33 matches (too few)

If every team plays each other four times - 44 matches (too many)

So they play each other three times, and then play five additional matches against the other teams in their half of the table - 38 matches (just right!)
