Wingate v Town latest

Scoreline

Recommended Posts

We were awesome for the last five minutes! I am just wondering where we were for the previous 85! Por passing, too many cross field balls followed by aimless punts up the field and put under pressure by a lively W and F team at every opportunity.

Precious scoring with a header when players much taller were around! As Gaza would say, 'what's that all about?'

Had their 'keeper not made two oustanding saves, then we could have won 4-3!

Not a good night for the Town.

I've decided not to attend the Hillingdon and Witham games coming up, I have not seen Town win for 18months. I missed the last 3 games and we won them all. Last season we won 5 on the trot including the 1-0 away win at Edgware then I atten Wabbey home, they were 2nd from bottom and we lose 2-1, so to give the lads the best chance of progressing I'll watch from afar and maybe sneak in unannounced one Saturday.

Last nights game was very much mixed. I also think Wingate were the better team however we missed 3 golden chances to take the lead or equalise in the first half when chances fell to Deane, Edgar and Jones. Plus Rudi had a chance in the second half you'd expect him to have finished.

We got punished for giving away a pointless free kick (Tickner) in a dangerous spot and then see us poorly defend that kick (Tickner again). In the second half we got punished for the poor header on the edge of our box by Marcel. So an earlier goal from us could have changed the outcome but we did'nt and it did'nt.

I thought Reiss Noel looked good when he came on and Ryan Edgar looks good too. 'Tidy' Clydie Roberts looks like a real quality midfielder as well.

Never mind, an off night last night but i'm backing the lads to pull in 6 points from the next two games.

For me there were 3 main points.

W and F kept possesion when they had the ball.

Town lost possesion all the time.

W and F got the ball in Town penalty area with 3 or 4 passes.

Town took more than "several".

W and F took their chances.

Town missed theirs.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Added to this W and F keeper made 3 GREAT saves.

Overall - the best team on the night WON - No real complaints.

Looking forward to the return fixture on 31st where Town will have to have a go at W and F in the early stages and not wait until the final 5 minutes.

Thanks ep, glad to see i'm not alone.

OT-I think it was down to taking our chances, I think you would have seen our confidence rise substantially if Deane, Edgar or Jones had taken the first half opportunities. Whereas Wingate punished our error's.

I've no complaints with regards to the final outcome, but Wingate made no mistakes in defence, we did. Precious Koko looked a good player for them otherwise, technically not a great amount of difference.

We could always get into their penalty box with one pass of 60 yards so thats not an issue in my view either.

Roll on Hillingdon and Witham, make sure we are not complacent and bring in those 6 points, nothing less if we still have Play Off aspirations.
