Sutton updates

Very very dissapointing result tonight. We are in despertate need of a out and out striker. Sorry but was not impressed with Bailey tonight, I don't think he is strong enough to compete up front particularly as a lone striker, which probably explains why he is not playing regularly for Dover. I don't think he adds anything more than Shittu did TBH. Lots of chances tonight particularly in first half and we should have definately been at least one up at half time, we had four clear chances and two of them one on one with the keeper. But nobody looks capable of putting the ball in the net. Same old story though, we at least matched them for most of the game and I think we probably edged the first half. All the players gave their all tonight and you could not knock them for effort as they really were committed. However Mullin was off his game and nearly cost us two goals earlier on when he fumbled a save and failed to hold an easy ball. He was definately at fault for their second but it was too late then. I could not really see the Harwood tackle for the sending off but it looked like a foul but not a card. I didn't think it was dirty match either but the ref seemed to get his card out for anything. I think we are in really big trouble now as we are just not scoring and appear to be scoring less now than at the beginning of the season. We have not scored for 3 matches now which is worrying. If we could score just one goal will always in with a chance. A long trip back for the supporters again, who were great as usual.

I agree with most of margateshot above. Was more impressed with Bailey than MS though. Thought he looked easily as good as Pinnock, but not Hockton.

It's bloody annoying that a poor referee can cost us a game like that. We lost our best player and they scored almost immediately. Harwood's first yellow was never a bookable offence - the oppo weren't asking for it and everybody looked bemused when the idiot got his book out. The second one was debatable, but a sensible ref would have realised the player was already on a card and and let it go. Most, if not all, of the other bookings on both sides were also unnecessary.

We played well all game and could have won it. I'll bet every one of the home crowd would have been well happy with a point from that. If we had started the season like this we would be up there too. Shows it can be done on a low budget, but of course we are starting from way behind the start line.

Ok, another gripe now. This bloody fans focus site. I am using a mobile phone to do the updates and it takes a sodding age to load the pages because of all the photos, ads, guff about recent posts, who's online, etc, etc. A lot of my posts didn't show today because there was a poor signal and they got timed out. Steve B if you are reading this, if you can resurrect your forum and streamline it down to lower page content I will use that on Saturday. (Bitch over!)

And another thing about the forum, how come you select 'UK English' and the spell checker is American?

To answer a couple of questions I missed during the game: TonyT - no it's a Nokia! Bitch - I didn't notice any whingeing from the Sutton bench; are they famed for it then?

Finally a word about the oppo: we were overrunning them until they made two good changes with about 20 mins to go. I was particularly impressed with one of the subs McCallum, who I would have said was their MOM (can't remember who was announced). However it doesn't alter the fact that we should have won it.

Goodnight.

This game was the story of our season,we were so close to winning and should have won.we were the better team in the first half and even better in the second but we failed to score and yes we still need a striker.I would play Takaloo and Peters up front bacause they are the two best equiped in terms of touch and particularly Peters for pace to turn chances into goals.Time has proved that nobody else can. Mo is a proven goalscorer when he gets the chances and in his games this season he hasn't had many chances. We know that Ryan has got the quality to score goals so those 2 have to go up front.Terry and Nev have got the lads playing some good football and they are making chances so we have to have the quality up front. If they carry on playing like this they still have time to get out of trouble.

The ref was a real joke. This was like a game of netball where the game stops every 10 seconds whenever a player breathes on another. We have had some poor refs this season and its about time they realised this is a mans game, with physical contact. It was no way a dirty game.Harwoods 2nd yellow looked like one of those cases where the striker knocks the ball past the defender and then runs straight into him looking for a foul. The first was even less of a card. Thanks ref.

There's no point having a go at the ref, you can't control what they are going to do. Far better to concentrate on rectifying the fact that our forwards can't hit a barn door from three yards.

That we played 'well' and had plenty of possession is irrelevant. It's about results and nothing else. We look like we are going down.

Oh, and did anyone else see the Sutton manager having a smoke during the game? I'm all in favour of that.

Probably because, with the exception of the black tights, with his green jersey and black shorts he looked like a proper goalkeeper.
