Truro - The Facts!

Windsorian- I paid however much it was for a season ticket and will do until i die! I feel that us fans deserve the best possible 'service' which is what we didnt get on saturday morning.

I am willing to draw a line under it if the club realises just how annoyed some of us are and it CLEARLY doesnt. Speak to Geggy and you'll know just how annoyed and angry he is!

As for the committee i dont think that is needed as Geggy and Mike Betteridge are part of a liasion group between the fans and the board. Lets hope a lesson has been learnt from this whole mess....

This will be the last i have to say on the matter on here but if anyone wants to talk to the supporters we are more than willing and you know where to find us...the same place as we always are getting behind the 11 on the pitch!!

Woody i dont doubt your passion and the loyalty you feel for the club that is self-evident and the fans do of course deserve good service but sometimes things at part time non-league clubs dont go to plan, but the criticism and the wanting of an appology is not really warranted in my honest opinion,at any club of windsors level a great deal of time and money is given by those who work for the club,If it had been done by a full time paid employees of the club then yes an appology of sorts would be proper. I will stick my neck out here and say if anything an appology is needed from truro, but having heard from one windsor fan who said the club were sorry and gave them some beer from the club house you can only feel that there probably wasnt any malice or conspiracy from truro either.

on the subject of the committee i only mentioned it because i seem to remember the club saying they are always looking for volunteers to share the burden. Appologies if you thought my post was abrupt.

If not put on a public forum many people would not have realised what happened and rumours in different parts of the club would have become nothing more than myth or legend. Now we have had discussions on this board including the club secretary and we may not have heard whatwe want to hear but at least we have debated it and made ourselves and our feelings heard. Had we tried to do this quietly with the management I doubt we would have had a decent chance to make our argument quite so vehemently. i would still ike to have a real answer as to whathappened and why we weren't prepared for such an obvious train of events, but I doubt that will happen so we move on. As for don't let it detract from our great season, well excuse me but we stood a very good chance of winning that game, we may be in a much worse position next time for whatever reason(or we may not) but if we were then this could have cost us a net deficit of 6 points. A bit more relevant I feel than the cost of a train ticket for me. We shall all be behind the team Saturday and we are looking forward to remaining top of the league, so for this a big well done to the management team so far and keep up the good work on the pitch.

My last post was tongue in cheek and I was going to give up writing on this forum, maybe even stop reading...so my last hurrah is;

I'm not after an apology from anyone at WEFC. I dont think anyone from WEFC needs to apologise to us supporters. I think an acknowledgement from an official of the club that a postponement was a real possibility and it might have been in our interests to have had someone on standby to attend an inspection?

If The Colonel & Jim were training then, a call to Steve? Here's

I disagree.

As far as I am concerned, the Club have failed in their 'duty of care' to everyone who invested time and money following the team down to Truro, by failing to be present at the 11am pitch inspection. We are stakeholders in this club every bit as much as the team, the management and the committee etc... Everyone I've spoken to directly from the supporters who travelled is of this opinion also.

Allow me a simple analogy :- I'm driving to work and my car breaks down. I have to wait for the AA to come and fix it and ultimately I'm late for an important meeting.

What do I say when I get in to work to everyone who expected/wanted me to be at that meeting ??

"I'm sorry I'm late, but my car broke down"

Two simple components in that statement :-

- an apology to those affected

followed by

- an accurate explanation of why it wasn't my fault.

If the club feels it isn't there fault I have no issue with that and I would welcome them coming out and explaining why. However, that doesn't detract from the need to apologise to those who believe they were adversely affected by my absence.

You tell me what's so different between those two situations ? As in my view (and a lot of other people's) there isn't any....

Big Man, I'd say.

Your car broke down - that's your car which you have ultimate control over. By performing a full maintenance check on your vehicle before you set off you could have possibly avoided the breakdown incident in your car. Sorry isnt good enough this time young man. I've let you off numerous times for looking at pornography on your desktop in the office, this lateness incident, together with the tissue box & jelly incident last Thursday are the straw that broke the camel's back. Now collect you box of smut from the boot of my perfectly maintained car and get back on that train to Truro.

Truro City's pitch is not WEFC's pitch. Your car is your car. The ref's decision is final.

WEFC showed a measure of "duty of care" by communicating the decision to hold a pitch inspection as soon as that news was received, and then passed on the decision of that inspection as soon as possible to supporters.

Personally I wouldnt feel any better if Sir Peter Simpson said "sorry we didnt have anyone at the pitch inspection to try and change the ref's mind" or if he said "in hindsight it would have been a good idea to have made someone available to attend a pitch inspection to try and change the ref's mind - we'll remember that next time"....

Either way, you and I, plus others, are cash money down, and unless Mr Big Bucks Fat Wallet I Feel Sorry for those travelling Royalists, steps in after reading these posts - that cash money isnt coming back.

Sorry costs nothing to say and must therefore be cheap and meaningless = worthless.

Wont be down Sat (blew my budget last Saturday & Tuesday PM), see you next Tuesday if this Kidney goes on Ebay over the weekend.

Face to Face stops EVERYONE knowing the facts. OR a game of chinese whispers would start. In my view the internet is a great way of having open debate with as many people as are interested no matter what the discussion is.

That said a fans meeting would be an excellent idea as perhaps then the powers that be will understand just how frustrated we are.

Wood, if a meeting, open forum, whatever would result in someone saying fill this claim form in and you'll get your wedge back, or here's an envelope with your cash back, then its a brilliant idea. However, I suspect you'll have more chance of seeing the popes [****!!****].

It's all been aired, everyone knows what everyone else is thinking, I agree.

"sorry" doesnt pay the bills, so lets all move on...

we'll all get bitter and twisted otherwise over naff all in the grand scheme of things.

To Doris Wanderer

You believe the car owner essentially had almost complete control over the destiny of his journey. That means his failure to attend the meeting in your eyes is completely his fault...............

On that basis, you should be demanding a full unreserved apology, not sticking up for the club. A Saturday 11am pitch inspection was always a possibility with cold weather around, thus the club should have been planned for it according to you. They didn't and you should be asking for a full apology with no caveats.......

I happen to think the club were a bit unlucky. Thus my angst is less acute and I am happy to accept an apology with the relevant explanation as to why the club believes it wasn't predominantly their fault.

Dedworth Dog thats all we want! We wont get an explanation because simply there isnt a good enough one .They messed up. However i think an apology would of done once they found out how angry we were...now its far too late and some of the most loyal fans are very angry with the club.

The thing that really gets on my goat is the fact Malc had a phone on him. Steve did you get in contact with him as we did and he seemed to know NOTHING of any pitch inspection and he was with the team. This was at 10am roughly.

We cannot change the past now but lets learn lessons from this farce! However until the club realises its made a mistake that cannot happen!

Woody, I was getting texts from Chopper all morning and he was the first to mention anything about an inspection. As I replied to him a text came through from Steve to confirm an inspection.

At this time the team and I were at a local school training, well they were training I was just stood there watching, and Steve was at the hotel.

Steve did contact me ref the inspection, it was just timed a few seconds before Choppers.

Malc, I think one of Woody's main annoyances, and I agree with him, is there wasn't the foresight. In my world you always plan so the worst case scenario is covered, so in this instance 'what if a pitch inspection is arranged on Saturday morning' what's our plan b knowing Truro in all probability would have a preference for the game being called off? Hence, why I called you on the previous Monday evening. I fully endorse the points on this thread, but I also agree with Doris in that it's not as if we are going to get any money back. I for one feel I have learned a hell of a lot this week. See you all tomorrow.

Dog, I didnt set out to say what you say I am saying.

I'm just not fussed about having an apology, and I can ill afford to be spending money and getting naff all in return for it....I just know that you wont get someone to do something they dont want to do.

We are all on here making a big song and dance about being hard done by, but lets face it, who cares really.

Everyone of us gets stiffed everyday of the week, if it's not your employer it'll be the council, if it's not the council it'll be the government.

Peeing off Steve Rowlands, irritating The Colonel, giving Peter Simpson palputations will only disrupt our club.

You gotta play team till it hurts even if you get kicked in knackers.

3 points tomorrow would be nice.
