Braintree Wanderers

Recommended Posts

A couple of years back we were approached by a group of lads looking to start a new side in Braintree and ground share with us. It was to have included a number of existing Braintree Town FC reserve team players and their team management, but was to have been run completely separately from Braintree Town FC. We thought that this would give the players concerned an excellent environment to play and that by ground-sharing at Cressing Road, the ESL would benefit from good facilities.

Unfortunately we didn't receive the necessary support. However, the chaps involved have now approached us again and asked for our support for a second attempt. Do you think there would be support from Essex Senior League member clubs for an application from a Braintree Wanderers side to enter the league, ground-sharing at Cressing Road?

Your advice and guidance would be welcome.

Not sure what the FA rules are now about new clubs entering direct into NL Step 5 status these days IW but good luck with your ambitions. The ESL could certainly do with a few more clubs to add to its constitution.

Definatley, also with numbers in the ESL still short of the targeted 22 (I think that is the aim), I am sure an application with decent facilities would be welcomed.

I think now the only way could be if you make them your official 2nd team so they can play under your banner in the ESL.CRC and Histon ressies do in the Ridgeons premiere.I might be wrong but that I think is the case.

Rules have changed since then. The only chance we have got to have teams in our league now is if they come from the Intermediate Prem(top 2)or relegated from Step 4 or move from Ridgeons prem.
