ESL made history!!

With Blue Square South,Rym Prem,1 north & south matches all called off,ESL was only one of 3 step 5 leagues(Kent and Midland Alliance) to have 2 games played yesterday!! Combined Counties,,Hellenic,Spartan South Midlands,Eastern Counties,Northern,Sussex,Western and North West Counties didn't have a single match played on!ESL,Kent and Midland Alliance had two games played while United Counties,Northern Counties and Wessex had only one!!

was it playable at APSA? or did everyone involved just take a risk with players safety.

the annoying thing this week has been that we couldnt play on tuesday or saturday but could have on wednesday and sunday.

It wasn't playable but at the end of the day it's the ref's decision and he decided to go ahead ignoring ours and APSA concerns for the players safety.He said that it was no different from a pitch in the summer...and his words to the players that were slipping up all over the pitch were:"Be careful!!!".Luckily nobody got injured and there were no bookings as well.Lads,it's not the case of being softies here,it's about the welfare of players that have got jobs or are self-employed and if anyone gets injured as a result of playing on a frozen pitch,they are gonna lose their incomes and in times like these can face hardship.My question is now:"Who would have been held responsible if that would have happened?"It ain't worthy taking the risk of playing a game on a pitch like that.Common sense should have prevailed.

players losing money through injury is bad news and unfair on the individuals involved of course, but to be honest this weather costs clubs a small fortune as well.

programmes are thrown away,early morning pitch inspections have to be paid for and mobile phone compainies must make a fortune through various officials having to contact each other.

maybe, after looking at the weekends forecast the league should have cancelled all league matches on Saturday,i dont know if the league could actually do that but in such circumstances it might be the best option.
