How far did you get to Truro ?

We made the best of a disapointing situation. Not only did we make it to Truro but we decided to head another hour up the track to Penzance and visit Lands End.

I was surprised to read the clubs description of what went on yesterday, it seems to contrast what we had heard somewhat.

The truth is out there....

I'm with the Wood Dawg on this one. We were told (whilst almost at Truro) nobody from our club turned up for the 11 o'clock pitch inspection! Why was this? Having nobody there really puts the decision in the hands of the Ref influenced by the entire Truro management. With no one from the Windsor camp there fighting our corner the game was always going to get called off with an inspection at 11 o'clock.

Having an inspection at 11 o'clock helps no one... The travelling fans (of which there was quite a number) were almost at Truro, the team was already there and the temperature was rising all the time.

On hearing the game was off Woody, Micky B, Mrs Cat, Fuzzy Royal, D-Dog and myself decided to go to Lands end for a day trip! Just had to make the most of the day after it all went wrong!

Back to the point of the game, will we get some answers?

The Truro 7 that went down by car (me, Matty S, Chopper, Dazza, Geoff, Mel and Nicola) were informed the game was called off when we were 12 miles short of Truro. We decided to continue to the ground to see for ourselves the state of the pitch. The pitch, to be fair, was very hard in a number of areas, and if the match was kicking off then, it was the right decision to call it off. However, it was very much 50:50, if the pitch inspection had been delayed until 1pm the outcome could have been different with two hours more sun, and still a further 2 hours more sun unil kick off - unlike here i was a sunny day in Truro! The annoying thing for all of us, like others have mentioned here, was that no one from the club was present for the pitch inspection. The Truro Vice Chariman told us that he personally had informed the club at 9.45am that a 11am pitch inspection would be taking place. Obviously we don't expect officials to travel all of this way even earlier, but the fact remains some officials were staying in the area and the team were staying not far in away. It would not have taken much for someone to have been present. In my opinion if someone was, a second inspection could have taken place at 1pm, such was the 50:50 state of the pitch at 11am. To put into context our anger, Chopper and Nicola did a 970 mile round trip for this match from Liverpool to WIndsor on Friday night, to Windsor to Truro on Saturday morning. Matt and Mel travelled from Northampton. Yet people staying in the area were unable to present for a pitch inspection at an hour and 15 minutes notice. We would like to say a thank you to the Truro Vice Chairman for allowing us to look at the pitch for ourselves and the crate of beers he gave us for our long journey home.

I am not angry that the game is off just the sheer lack of aptitude by certain people, and naming no names you all could guess who i am on about. Even if it was just a token effort that would of been sufficient.

However i expect the parties involved will shut up shop, not even say sorry. After all we are still waiting to hear the 'real' reason why we suspended from the league last year!!!

The team were staying in Newquay and only got the message that there was going to be an inspection after they had gone for a morning training session. By the time they had got back and managed to sit down for breakfast the inspection was done and the match was off.

The only Windsor official staying with the team was Steve Rowland who tried to get the inspection changed to 1pm as we could all see that it was only going to get warmer.

I personally appreciate the efforts made by supporters to get to a game like this, it is also highly appreciated by the players but I have to say that whether anyone from the club was there or not that Truro were always going to get the game called off.
