TRURO MATCH IS OFF

TigerTalk

Just been announced, the match is postponed due to the frozen pitch.

If you can get a message to the lads on their way down it'll save them a wasted journey.

A real shame for your team and club officials, hopefully they'll be compensated .

Look forward to seeing you down for the rearranged fixture - get that coach sorted this time!!

All the best

Just read on the website that Truro refused to hold a second pitch inspection at 1 o'clock.

Given the fact it was 7 c in Truro today and rising, one would think they would have tried to get the game played.

I may well be mistaken, but i can definitely smell something a bit whiffy........

On what basis can Windsor make a claim to Truro for travel expenses? Just curious as I'm not sure how you can apportion blame for a postponement caused by the weather. If anything I would have thought the League would help out with costs, or it would be up to the club to get insurance.

Basically, Truro are claiming payment for travelling last week to Thatcham and the match was called off.

We checked with them on Friday and were told that there were no issues and no inspection required. On that basis we travelled expecting a game.

They refused a later inspection and when you consider the players that they were missung I am not suprised they wanted the game off.

There is something in the rules allowing a club to claim traveling expenses for this sort of thing and after what we were told on the Friday we also have a case for claiming the hotel costs.

I don't see how they can complain about us claiming if they are trying to claim from Thatcham.

Funny how Truro's reserves played Friday night locally and no frozen pitch. Clearly they would not want the game on but Truro cannot tell a ref to call the game off, but they can influence, as any club would. If we cannot be bothered to turn up and try to make our case heard then why should the ref take our side. If the pitch was 50/50 at 11 and everyone there was saying "ooh, it'll never thaw out in time, don't play it" he will probably call it off.

all rumour but I heard the Windsor management were offred a 12 o'clock inspection and to come and see the pitch. Is this true and did we not bother. Also, with the knowledge of the Truro players out and potentially frozen conditions should we not have been a bit sharper and expected a possible early pitch inspection.

Personally I feel let down by the management team, Truro may or may not have been a little naughty, but we may have lost a six point advantage over this team if we have to take a weakened team there for the replay. We had a good chance to win saturday, who knows in the replay.

Do you really think that having travelled all that way and spent all that money that they would have turned down a later inspection against a Truro side missing so many players?

The fact is The club should be two steps ahead when it comes to this sort of thing. Geggy posted saying as much a few days ago. If this club was treated like an actual buisness heads would be on the line

i came all the way from sittingbourne i travelled a total of 17 hours this weekend had i not spoke to a guy from truro on friday morning saying the game was definatly on i wouldnt have gone! so to say i was disapointed when i found out the game was called off would be a understatement espcially as i went a saw mullian play a local derby against cury 30 mins away from truro! its all a bit suspect to me!

Although there wasnt anything like a full programme of football in the south west there were a number of games on in the south west penninsula league.

Although i never saw the pitch i would like to trust and believe that truro club did the right thing as they seem to be a friendly club and what with their own amount of travelling they more than most would understand the frustration of the situation.the only thing i woul of said was with the team and supporters already down a one oclock or even two oclock inspection shouldnt have been out of the question.

Graham Poll's article in last Saturday's Daily Mail on this subject was very enlightening !

I find it unbelievable that no club official from WEFC was at the

11 AM pitch inspection. It must be obvious to all and sundry that whether the pitch was playable or not, it is a distinct advantage to Truro to have the game called of by the ref. It now puts Windsor at a disadvantage with the midweek travel, and of course Truro having their suspended players back. Feel sorry for those that travelled, but i would be fuming with the officials of WEFC if no one was there to speak with the ref on the day.
