Good stuff Chris & Co

Unfortunately I can't make the meeting on the 2nd due to prior commitments. Once things have been decided for the 9th can you let me know how long the supporters are going to be outside the town hall. Most of the day I'm going to be in Bristol interviewing somebody, but hopefully I'll be back in time to join the rest of you.

In just 'doing my bit' I have sent e-mails to Councillors Tony Haines, John Edwards and Rob Anderson. I work with John but he put me on to Tony Haines and we had a long phone call. He has a long history of involvement with the club, so I heard his side of the story but I understand from messages on the forum that he isn't exactly flavour of the month. I can't comment about what he either has or has not done over the allotments. He is a politician and they all talk with forked tongues on occasion; don't forget that the elections were only a couple of weeks ago so there could have been an element of electioneering.

He distrusts Deaner on the basis of what he has seen and heard from him in meetings, and of his past track record with Newbury and Oxford clubs, both of which he left in financial problems apparently. Though there are Deaner supporters on the Council, Haines is more wary. He says that the reason Deaner and Thorne have not negotiated is that Thorne is ill, in Spain, talks through his legal folk and says Deaner has not paid enough on the lease. Haines is not against STFC as such but if we want him on our side we need to be a bit more reasoned in the way we act. At the vigil we need to show that we are not a loud-mouthed rabble but a serious group of people with a passion for the club. In our organisation we need to be seen as people who can come up with business plans and not piss away money like in the past. This is what sets us apart from Slough Rugby, Cricket and Hockey all of whom have establised themselves as credible sports clubs with impressive facilities. Lets keep STFC on the Council agenda but don't expect miracles. I will continue to plug away unless people think I'm not helping.

Fair points Keith....and taken...

Martin Deaner should not be given the land to go forward without some concrete commitments and council requirements....please remember he will have to raise the money before anything can go forward ! and has not asked for council hand outs..... if he does not deliver then so be it !

However also don't forget that before the Thornes had come to the club ...the club had gone from a isthmian league side to a Conference side , without any help what so ever and paid the ultimate price to be put in administration, for a fig of about gbp 125,000 pounds , nothing these days !! the council did not resuce us then and don't expect miricles to happen , now ! The fact that the ground and all its assets were sold out....and the team down the river....

The people who support Slough Town FC , support Slough ! and are only custodians of our proud history and an integral part of our town, even though many don't like football , we are a football nation with passion and pride and all I ask is that we get behind the best supported club in the town and sit down and do what is best and get it right this time !

Just to note we don't just look after our selves ...this year alone we have raised over 5000 pounds to League of friends hospital charity....for the people of Slough ! this all without a firm base to work from....

Come on Rebels supporters.....old and new this is so important for our town.....

regards chris

The first problem with Mr Deaner is thathe hasn't paid theThornes ANY rent on the lease.

Secondly, anyone that wants to speak to Alan Thorne has to do it through calling Martin at the Park and he forwards the request and if Thorne will speak to you, he calls you back!!!!

Thirdly, the council don't give a flying [censored] about the fotball club. or even sport despite any lip serrvice that they happen to pay to it

The council don't care about sports? Why have they built up the hockey club then for the all conquering ladies team to make their long awaited return to the Borough?

They do care and they will care. STFC fans can make sure of that through demonstrating in the correct manner on the 9th and 16th June.

Yes he has not paid any rent to Alan Thorne...a disgrace..

But also take the point that STSA and Lional have played there part in paying some of the rent due , with all the ground repairs , cleaning the toilets after every car boot sale ! cleaning all the rubbish from the site left by the car booter every sunday....painting and repaired gates and fencing etc etc ...if fact keeping the place resonable..... if it had been left what a mess it would have been in !

And Lionals credit to keep the pitch upto scratch.....

and saving pounds for his hard work.....

STSA supports its claim to help STFC .....and keep it a wexham park stadium if it can....

up the Rebels ........

Why the hell is it even so high an amount for Windsor? The fans we'd bring with us and the increase in tea bar and club bar takings would surely have lowered the rent, but for some reason, it's more than double what it is alleged Wokingham had to pay?

If Deaner doesn't pay, why should we even be thinking about heading toward Windsor? We should be trying to secure the lease for Wexham Park.

Chris,

I will get the pop up and petition done, but at the moment i'm quite busy with assignments and have exams very soon, hopefully I will be able to do it over this weekend though. Defintely the pop-up if not the petition - maybe Gary could organise that please :-)
