Their would be 1 problem with an AFC Ricay it would have to start in the ESL having said that i would probably be more prepared to see him if theirs an away trip I couldnt secure transport to. If the team playing out of Glouchester park ever had the name Basildn incorporated into it which it will undoubtley to get the people of Basildon to go the games then I certainly wouldnt go ever again

interesting debate which touches on but just misses the real issue.....

if the business men had their way there would be half the No of Non League clubs in the Rymans (for example) financial sense of course ...take a merge between HFC and Romford....great stuff and financially viable without investors I'm sure.....

of course the fans would take all action to resist which is the spirit of non league football ......(we wanna keep our club).....I accept that...trouble is....

the fans all want success on the pitch ( you can't sustain that without money).......but are not prepared to support integration of local clubs............money is generated by well supported clubs and there are to many for that support to materialise.......how about.....

'Ricay and Chelmsford as one new club at the proposed new ground in support terms....1500 to 2000 per game would be conservatively realistic.....possibly 3000 for high profile games......

now that would be financially viable and the ongoing revenues would support success.....but...

the fans can't have it both ways.....small town clubs will never generate the income to sustain success and 'investors' are.......for the most part derided for their support...regardless of what success they bring to a club.....

I wonder what Geoff King for example thinks about some of the abuse he gets on other forums...(hopefully doesn't read it) yet he is responsible for the clubs success and without him it would not continue.....

just a view from the fence...............

exactly......but most of that success has been down to Jeff King (or he's been the driving force behind it)

point is.....a lot of fans demand success but are not prepared to allow the restructuring that could give it to them....

I don't have a strong view on this as I fully understand the fans point of view......does raise the issue however.......

can non league clubs stand alone as per the present pyramid structures......??

in mediocrity yes....with success on the pitch...no....

but that argument does...I accept...ignore the spirit of non league footie and indeed those wonderful ...once in a blue monn.....times when glory comes knocking....

If you have the potential foot traffic to raise interest say a potential of over 1,000 through the turnstyle then yes an enterprising board can sell the club on and off the pitch

As with any small to middle size business it is down to the ability of the board

Enabling local business and commerce to be involved will over time bring in sponsorship

The right manager/trainer and ability to recruit and you have every opportunity to make progress

I can think of many clubs where the basic building structure is in place and you could develop the other essential ingredients

Having a sugar daddy as opposed to building in support over time from the local business and commercial community is a lovely short cut but remember Daddy can cut the sugar supply (Canvey the most secure long term sugar ever)

The best I have seen do it the long way round Wycombe Wanderers

whats the deal with Grays fans and peg selling,

dont get the conection ??

anybody got any old fridges ??

well it seems the relocation to corringham is pie in the sky,

so it seems is relocation within Grays

most open spaces are ear marked for houses,

so it seems GAFC will be left to redevelop the Rec

all a bit confusing after satying in the pack season before last, the back room staff are going mental, this latest idea seen a bit unguided

i feel the CANV have got it right, they get in the big names and get em playing, our teams just arent motivated,

and thats 70% of what you need at this level !!

still waiting for a year long consistant side, last time we had this in the early 90s we were the best support team in the prem,

its doing my head in all this experimenting lark

any transfer gossip with Canvey yet?????

or hornchurch ???

So all the other teams in the Ryman Prem were getting 200,300 every week?
