truro pitch update

MISM - WEFC

Recommended Posts

i spoke to a chap from truro yday he said the pitch is currently frozen solid and even tho warmer weather is predicted for the area the pitch will need time to thaw out and given that they are still having freezing cold nights its highley unlikly to go ahead, he also told me unfortunatly the league will not allow them to make a desision friday they are only allowed to call it off saturday.

The forecast does look much better, however it could still boil down to how much Truro actually want to play the game this Sat.

From past experience if a home team wants a game to be called off, they usually get they're wish.

I'm not saying they would necessarily want the game off, just playing devils advocate for a minute.

Just this second got an email from the vice chairman of truro saying there is a good chance of the game going ahead due to the weather getting better down there.

Mrs Cat hits the nail on the head. It will boil down to how much the home team want the game on. With four players suspended they may not be overly enthusiastic about playing the top of the table team who are unbeaten in 17 league games!!

I'm sure the local qualified official who will conduct the pitch inspection (if necessary) will only consider the players safety when undertaking his duties.

Useful having the players and officials down there on Friday though. Will have to be a very thorough pitch inspection. You never know it may even take place and not be a Newport IOW "phantom" inspection!!

Anyway, whatever will be will be.

Just had a call from Truro's secretary to say NO pitch inspection required unless they get a severe overnight frost [which is not forecast, meant to be 7 degrees [c] and cloudy].

I will be down there tomorrow morning and will be in contact with Truro so I will try and let people know via phone if there are any problems.
