Insurance ?

With this cold weather calling off games, a question raised itself in my inquisitive mind as I sampled a pint of the amber nectar in my local at lunchtime today.

Some posters on this forum have questioned why games were called off last Saturday.

RIGHT !

Which CCL clubs insure their players against injury ?

How many players in the CCL Premiership and Division One have taken out their own injury insurance cover ?

The reason I ask is that I know for a fact that a certain NHS hospital, fairly local to me asked an injured amateur sportsman recently if he had private insurance cover. He was told that if the answer was 'NO' and as his injury was classed as 'Non-Serious', he should consult his GP at the first available opportunity as A & E was there to treat more serious injuries.

Referee's MUST take into account the risk to players if they pass a pitch fit for play and then subsequently a player claims injury due to the ground conditions.

Answers on a plaster-cast, to...........

It's mandatory for clubs to insure their players if they affiliate with the Middlesex FA, I think our policy is with Cobra Insurance Brokers at a very hefty cost. However, I don't think this is the case with the Surrey FA, they are satisfied with Public Liability cover only I believe.

Cobham include it as part of the cost to sign for the club (inc tracksuit etc). I also have insurance through work.

I was thinking of this the other day. If a player had injured himself due to the frozen pitches over the w/e, who is liable?

Is it the club, or as I would imagine, the ref, as it is they whom deem the pitch to be suitable and safe for the players to play the game?

Imagine more refs would be inclined to call games off it would be them in the firing line if a claim was made!

I'm so glad I raised a valid point.

Should it not be time that all County FA's ensure that ALL Clubs have full insurance ?

The clubs have to take out player insurance as part of their league requirements, in truth this policy not the greatest and we arrange for players to have the option to take out personal injury insurance at their own cost.

Now BJR stop raising valid points and get back to the bull sh!te !!!!grin

Hmmm, reminds me of a Dons game at Billericay a while back (playing against Chelmsford). Weather was like it is now and one corner of the pitch seemed to be frozen. Our manager (and I think Chelmos too) was unhappy with the game going ahead. The ref disagreed. A few minutes gone and in that very corner, new signing Simon Sweeney slips and is out of the game for a year. Thanks Mr T Mason (Sidcup)! Mr Mason also managed to send two of our players off in the same game and did the same again later that season when we returned to play Billericay!

Not my favourite official angry

Hope he's not one of your mates Kroons!

Not the case in the Southern League, although I think it would be a good idea for this to be mandatory.

Back in the days when insurance was an issue for me the policies offered to Clubs was extortionate in relation to the cover and level of payments. If fact they were rubbish.

You also needed to be injured for 3 weeks before you were elegible for benefits.

For less money individuals could take out personnal injury cover that provide protection for 365 days per year 24 hours a day.

You are far more likely to become incapacitated outside of football than inside especially if you are like me and risk serious drinking injuries. drinkies
