Mike I saw the incident where one of the steward asked the Margate fans to calm down to which members of the choir pointed out most of the language was from one of the idiots with the drum and his mate.

However having a go at the steward and swearing at him like the bloke in front did was not helping the situation.

 

The choir actually restrained themselves quite well in face of intimidating position and probably did the right thing staying quiet

Yeah charming lot, NOT.

But most of their fans were OK. Not many teams would tempt me back to the mess at HDP but have to say Dover are a really good side. No disgrace losing to them. Dover are leaving us way behind.

My boss ain`t going to it as is about 25 other dover fans he knows , he said he felt welcomed at Margate last Saturday but refuses to set foot into Deadwood after the sh.t they got last yr . Ramsgates loss of much needed revenue . You can`t afford to muck these chances up of earning some decent money . Heard the singing well BGA shame it won`t be as good at Ramsgate . This is when you feel for the real Rams fans a good atmosphere that sould have been because so few let the so fewer down . My boss and i thought we could club togther for an itunes gift card for the Rams so they could buy a fan . Up the Gate .

BluePineapple i'm not sure if your the person i think you are but i am the Dover fan who was trying to get the other Dover fans to tone there language down etc etc. I just want to apologise on behalf of DAFC supporters if your day was spoilt by anyone or everyone. Enjoy the rest of the season. hopefully you stay up and Ramsgate go down.

Cheers Phil, as I said earlier majority of fans were great just a few idiots spoilt it for some.

Phil no need for you to apologise. Thought that there should have been a few more stewards, and at least one or two standing by the entrance to the bar to stop drinks being taken out. That would have solved the glass bottle smashing problem and probably resulted in fewer people having a slash at the back of the stand! Good luck for the rest of the season mate (not that you'll need it).

I think main problem is that Peter was not there, I believe is in hospital so not that many stewards to cover ground, why I volunteerd to cover Dover end in 2nd half to cover gate down there.

Cheers Paul, i've posted on our forum how i couldn't believe how you could just walk in and out of your bar with glass pints of lager, just wouldn't happen anywhere else and that i felt sorry for Kieran, he seemed to have to do everything stewardwise by himself down the hartsdown road end and it summed it up when he come on with the stretcher and had no help to carry Frannie off and a Dover fan had to jump on to help him and the physio. See you in the cricket season mate.

I hope Peter is on the road to recovery cuddle He holds a tight rein on security at games so would have been missed. But, that said, Dover are a friendly lot on the day.

The bigger the crowd the more magnified human foibles. For the most part the Dover fans, just like the Gate, Rams, Angels fans etc all go to a match with the same purpose. To support thier club and enjoy the day.

As a footy fan with mates in all camps and being a bit of a hopper i've seen the ups and downs of each club, footy and fans wise. Maturity usually has a part to play. The best stewarding comes from within. The majority will always overall the minority. Blimey! It's hard enough to get 3 fans to agree a refs decision...

Overall, this non league footy lark is enjoyable. Footy forums exist for banter. You'll get your moaners and your optimists and it all adds to the mighty debate. Occasionally you'll get the odd one (or sad gang) that oversteps the mark and try to spoil it but it's generally recognised and stamped on by the peers. Just like at the game on the day.

I'm meeting up with friends next Saturday at the Dover v HX match. I don't worry about it at all as i know it will be a great day. Any side issues will be dealt with. smile

As i see it, WE and Margate will be ok, and stay up, but Dover get fined and 20 points deducted, for loutish fans,... wink
