What a good crowd on sat, it gave a good atmosphere to what is generally known as a cold bleak ground.

The away support was there in great numbers and well behaved in general apart from the gang of drunks who decided winning the match was not enough and proceeded to start a fight with the very few stewards on duty.

I must say the stewards did well to contain and deal with the situation ,thanks to the Dover board of directors for their

concern and willingness to help out.

Word has it that the ringleader of the drunken gang had

already been thrown out of Dovers ground for drunken

behaviour and banned.

I hope the stewards did not receive any injuries for their

trouble.

John as normal I stood in me special place (near the BAR smile )and most of the Dover fans near us were quite nice, and the atomosphere was really friendly. They seemed quite shocked that we had the better of the first 20 minutes, and complimented the ground and its fans for their hospitality. However I left slightly early to avoid the rush and never saw any rumpus, but MR "Im a T..T" parmenters attitude doesnt suprise me in the least - good game though.

Only saw one bloke walking round getting in faces but his mates soon made sure he quietened down and was back in the group. Didnt see any punches thrown. Was this when you were working in the burger bar John?

Think the trouble was caused by a very small group of fans (maybe only 15-20) who had over indulged in the hospitality of JDW's on the front before the game. However, when you consider the amount of genuine Dover fans there it was a very minute percentage.

Unfortunatley alchol & football do not mix before & during a match.

On balance, I thought non-segregation was a winner yesterday. I had a decent chat with some DAFC fans coming up from the station (and they'd been in JDW)...even telling them the quickest way to the ground! I'd love to see Margate/Ramsgate matches like this too - perhaps with a small additional steward/polce presence and a lunch time kick-off returning for these games. Drink is nearly always to blame for the problems, so minimising 'intake' before the match would help. One of the great things about non-league footie to me is the ability to have a bit of banter without suffering physically! We might even then see a bit less of the 'dodgy' language and dubious chanting, and then a few more fans and their families returning. I do admit to reading Jimmy Greaves' autobiography recently, though, so perhaps that's a bit optimistic and nostalgic!!

Take it we were the only ones to spot the Dover fans drinking beer from glass bottles behind the goal smashing the bottles and urinating up against the back of the stands.

As well as scaring the living day lights out of my 8 year old nephew and turning the air blue with their language.

Hope Parmenter is really proud of them!!

I would like to know why we are letting people in that are quite clearly drunk, it's a receipe for disater!!

I can understand your point BluePineapple but we did only have a certain amount of stewards so we couldn't place the amount we want outside the gate cos we needed them some where else and when u have at one point about 200 fans outside waiting to get in it was very diffcult to spot the drunk ones but wat u have to understand is they probs went into the ground not drunk but if they have been drinking in the bar then we would not of known and plus it alright saying it now blue pineapple but if u or someone else would off told a steward we would of sorted there and then and this my not off even happen it cos we havn't got eyes everywhere around the ground

Got to say the DAFC fans, that I was standing next too; in the 2nd half, were real ladies and gentlemen. All enjoying their football. They cheered their team and individual players on, without any swearing. In fact they used words like "oh dear, don't worry! come on Dover".

Thoroughly enjoyed their company for the 45 minutes, I spent next to them.

Must admit I didn't see any of the louts but, as Joseba said, these were a real minority and the majority had a very good afternoon. Must admit if I had have seen them then I would have moved totally away, from their area, as I wouldn't let them ruin my Saturday afternoon entertainment.

The only complaint I have is that I have a shandy at every home game, at half time, yet I couldn't get near the bar yesterday. Oh well!

There is always a few tossers that want to spoil it for the rest , what amazes me though is we have all said that this is the real local derdy for us against our old enemys Dover but we all stand together and watch a great game that we should have got something from . What i did enjoy though was we hate Ramsgate coming from both sets of fans at the same end at the same time but over all a great afternoon out bar the result . 800 Dover fans leaving 539 MFC fans = 1339 must have been near that or around that = 5 Ramsgate games in one MFC match . Fantastic . Up the Gate .

I would have said more like 700 Dover fans, 539 MFC and 100 'neutrals' who came because it was an attractive fixture (I brought two of them myself) and would probably come again....partcularly if we can string a few wins together. The view of my 'neutrals' was that it was a good game of football played by two teams who were close apart from slick finishing/mediocre defending on a couple of occasions. Contrast that with MFC v RFC, where I heard a couple of 'neutrals' saying that if that's the standard, they won't come again!

I was helping out stewarding down Dover end in second half and all the fans were friendly and I had great reportoire with them. Had to leave early after game so missed the trouble.

On the whole, the Dover fans are a credit to their club. Obviously, you always get a few idiots, but they were calmed down by some of the older fans, which was good to see. But the attitude of some stewards towards the Margate choir is still pathetic.
