I've been as frustrated as anyone with regards to results and performances but thinking about it, perhaps its time we had some stability on the pitch too and that means keeping the same manager and squad of players for more than 6 months. Until that happens I don't think we will progress anywhere. Not having our own ground is another hindrance, but hopefully there is light on that front soon.

How many managers and players have we had in the last 3 or 4 seasons?

I believe we will comfortably finish mid-table this season, perhaps higher, which given our position this time last season is a massive improvement! In addition we can expect that players we know will be playing week in, week out unlike last season when we would turn up and have no idea who has left and who has joined.

Windsor are in the position they are in because of the clubs stability and ability to keep hold of a squad of players and have built upon it each season. The same can be said about the majority of the teams in the top half of the table. As much as I hate to say it we should be following Windsor's example in that respect.

There are very few clubs with immediate success based on money. Look at Manchester City!

Sweetman in your eyes may not perhaps be the man to progress Slough forward at the speed which us fans would like, but he might just be the man to provide a solid footing on the pitch with the aim of pushing on in the future.

Welcome aboard Staines Rebel, though it took you long enough to realise what I have been saying since The Witney friendly.

That interview with Sweetman is all excuses, and it really depressed me to see him speak as though he will be in charge next year, maybe by then though the powers that be will have sorted out a top manager to take us forward.

You say D.J. is or was a top goal scorer at this level-so whats gone wrong-to my mind he probably is being handled wrongly.

ON another subject my scouting buddies tell me that Cirencester who we play in a fornight are virtually a different side from the one we played at home,a new manager has brought in new faces-and by all accounts they have some very very fast players and the team move the ball around quickly-they reckon it was only the hard slippery pitch that stopped them slaughtering Uxbridge-so we had better be prepared-ok Sweetman I will tell you their 7 and 8 will need constant watching.

Windsor let simon lane go soon enough when they realised he didnt have a clue.(his coaching from the dugout was very basic)How is it that the new manager there has done well with basically the same players.

Taken from the BBC sport site "Walsall have sacked manager Jimmy Mullen after just four wins in their last 16 games.

First-team coach John Schofield has been placed in temporary charge of the Saddlers, who lie in mid-table in League One.

"The decision has been taken as a result of a sequence of disappointing results, particularly at home games," a club statement read.

"It was necessary to take this decision in the best interests of the club."

Jimmy mullen had been at Wasall for 16 games and won 4 - a 25% win rate.

Derek Sweetman has been in charge for 33 competative league and cup games and won 8 - a 24% win rate.

Have to agree with Staines on this one think Sweetman's time is up, we have made very little progress under him and have had some crushing defeats already this season, come april i am sure we will be in the bottom 4 but will probably just survive. Think now is the time to get someone new in to freshen things up as when it comes to tactics Sweetman has not got a clue.

No progress??

I think that being able to look positively towards games with a good chance of us winning is good progress considering we've only won about 10-12 games in the last 2 seasons. We are getting thumped by teams less, we may not be winning a lot but the football is a lot better and the club has become a lot more stable under his management and a few good results on the pitch, as well as all the work off it.

It could be a lot worse!!

I said very little progress the defeats at North Leigh and Windsor were shameful and a disgrace. Your right it could be worse but with the players we have we should be doing a lot better. Just think Sweetman cant take us any further.

No progress - how people so easily forget the abject past two seasons. We are a mid-table inconsitant side. Brilliant one week against Paulton. Abject the next in the second half against Thatcham. Lee Riddell was our captin last season; this season he could hardly get in the side and has left.

I can't see what changing the management and unsettling the side will achieve this season, although next season we have to be play off contenders.

Exactly - we are moving in the right direction.

Let's face it, the chances of a manager like Denton coming in last season to rescue us were minimal - what we've got instead is someone who believes in the club, has the contacts to bring in a decent number of new signings and can gel the team together to get a win and some good battling draws with far more frequency than the previous three managers.

Stability is what's needed here - if you'd asked any of the fans at the end of last season what their realistic expectation of league positioning would be for this year, the VAST majority would have said "safety" followed swiftly by "hopefully midtable".

That's still very achievable. From that, we can look to be play off contenders next year. To expect us to go from just escaping relegation last year to playoffs this year is utterly unrealistic.

You can prove anything you like with statistics. Will it be enough for what? I don't expect us to be pushing for play-offs this season. What I would like to see is a competitive settled side that we can build on in the summer. We've proven we can be competitive against some of the best sides in the division. Now let's try and work on the settled aspect.

I would like to know how you think the manager will suddenly become a good manager next year !!
Too correct you as of yet he hasn't proved to be much cop this season. yes you can say we arn't in the relegation zone yet and yes the last 3 managers were pretty useless, but this manager has a better budget and we are down the bottom end of the league.
