I was told that the ref stayed around and said he would check the pitch again at 2.45pm and said to the teams to warm up. Barking did but Hullbridge refused. The ref said the pitch was playable at 2.45pm but Hullbridge refused to get the players back that had gone and even though they had enough players refused to play.

I also heard Barking trained on the pitch for a couple of hours after the game was called off at 2.45pm.

So Coachie why did you bottle it? grin

I have to say I was scared of all those Ryman players turning up in numbers to help Barking and also I had such a crap team of 16 players including that [****!!****] Goat and Bentley that I didn't want us to get trashed so I bottled it!At 2.15 after a quick call to the Len Salmon stadium and a game off reply,I was on my way to Station road Takeley where we had been assured the game was on...only to get there at 2.50 and watched Takeley training on the pitch!!! evilApparently according Don Vito Watters,ASPA made a quick exit after the ref bottled there as well!!! grin Fecking journey and after having spent a tenner in petrol, the prospect of playing mighty Barking on a tuesday night but I'll have a few Hornchurch and Chelsea loanees that I can use against Johnny Bennett's militia and irregulars!!! evilHappy now you fecking [****!!****]!!!

To finish the day I managed to see the last uneventful 20 minutes of Southend Manor-Eton Manor at Southchurch Park. You could hear old Reg telling his wide player "Take him on,take him on!" reminiscent of his old days as wizard winger.I believe even now at 62, Reg is better than S.Manor Bagpuss on the wing!!! evilAnyway I ended up at the manor bar drowning my sorrows with a double bacon sandwich(good) and a cheeseburger(not so good)and saying hello to BT talker and Eton Manor "pacy" winger Mark Vincent Benterman and thinking that a saturday without a football game is a sheet saturday!!! drinkies
