Games Off

Frosty ones are always the hardest to call. Camberleys pitch was rock hard at 11 and there was no chance of the sun getting on it on the Factory side of the ground. If the pitch is flat and there is a chance the sun will get to all of it then you have a hope. Each club needs to make the call whether to bring anyone in. Be interesting to see what games are left.

On another point - Just coz the frost has disappeared from the surface, it don't mean that the ground ain't like concrete underneath.

Referee's also have to take into account the chances of a pitch re-freezing during the second half at this time of year.

Duncs have you looked at both grounds. No. We are not talking about a small patch of grass but a whole pitch. You know Krooner Park well and will fully appreciate that the sun will never get to the far side of the ground. Stop sh1t stirring smile

It's not just the white stuff on top Dunc's at Dorking where the sun has been on it for a couple of hours the ground is still rock hard and as TRS said the area by the stand will not get any sun at all.

In Bookham it is only 1 degree at present and unlikely to get any warmer in Dorking at the ground it was 2 degree.

Clubs have to be sensile about it look at the weather forecast and get a ref in to have a look, clubs do get upset when travelling to the ground then it's called off when the best intentions by the home side is to get the game played, we did it earlier in the season to Molesey, all efforts to get the game on but failed in the end.

Just for the record, the DFC team and coaching staff had already left for Chobham when we got the call. At least they didn't have to make the whole trip.

It might be an old league rule-book, but I'm sure there is an obscure rule along the lines of......

"... in the event of a referee calling off a game in good time because of frost/snow/freezing conditions, players/officials/supporters may NOT enter furniture/DIY/ retail outlets, in the possibility that it may be possible to re-schedule the game to an alternaive venue."

I trust this helps, Green Pea.
