Slough Town 2-1 Beaconsfield HT

Beaconsfield have had the better of the half with four good chances and took the lead through Paul Brett on 14 minutes. Slough came back with a Platt finish after Harper's pen hit the bar and an own goal on forty minutes.

well i suppose you could say a point gained against a team at the top, but in reality( i mean those who truly understand football)it was another 2 home points chucked away.

But according to mr sweetman in the slough observer, we can make the play offs!! so there-nothing to worry about then.

of course he never said whether he meant promotion or relagation play offs !!!!!!

Think a draw was a fair result. You can see why Beaconsfield have done so well this season, they are like a machine. Play for set pieces of Stuart Swift whose delivery is probably the best in our division, or look to break through the speed of Bradley Bubb.

They probably should have been in front at half-time. Missed some good chances, and second half we could have killed the game off with DJ hitting the bar, his one-on-one chance and Platt heading wide.

Thought Laurence Brown was excellent following his return with Ricky Allaway not far behind.

Just one little thing, would have liked to see us 'want' it more when it went 2-2. We seemed quite happy with a draw, whereas they were running to take throw in's and subs. Need to show a bit more urgency for me and go for the win.

Gosh staines you can see why wizard and bobby hats and other think you a bit childish in your approach to messaging, and i can undestand their reasoning that you know little about football.
but i digress-everybody and their children know that the play offs are not for relegation purposes-but you fell in as usual.
good point though about jarvis( though he got that off the hull manager)at leat he seems to care about poor performances-unlike our " manager"
now! have yourself a new years resolution-promise us all you will seek some footballing knowledge this year-please !

beconsfield could of beat us three times over today with the clear cut chances they had.but maybe this is a change of fortunes for us after that result.

Beaconsfield looked very strong from set pieces, although helped by some slack marking. On several occasions defenders were not goal side of players or winning headers. One of their clearest chances was with them having 2 unmarked players in the box!

Harper's clearance in the first half though to hook the ball away from a cross and on running Bradley Bubb was quality.

A surprising team selection with Romeo, Evans and Pritchard on the bench but I think starting with Platt and DJ up front was the right choice.

I agree, it was a good decision to play Platt alongside DJ. I've been really impressed with Platt over the last few weeks - initially I thought he clearly had talent but sulked and gave up too easily if things weren't going his way - now he seems to be a changed man, chasing balls down, helping out the midfield and even helping defend corners today.

DJ was really unlucky not to score today, but he's such an awesome team player it's obvious why he's still being selected week in week out.

Ricky and Harper were solid today (aside from the defensive [****!!****] ups which resulted in Sycob's goals - and there were also a few moments where strikers went unmarked from set pieces and corners, but I presume that's just down to mixed messages from a back 4 who haven't played together much this season)

What pleased me most about today though was the attitude of the players when they came out in the second half - too many times this season we've seen our boys go in at the half when we've been even or had a slight lead and then come out complacently and get punished for it. That didn't happen today, they looked like they wanted the game and knew that 2 goals, neither or which were really from our own creation, were going to be enough. Just need that attitude to last all the way through the half now, I agree with Chris, they seemed to flag a bit in the last 10 minutes.

not playing Pritchard and not playing Romeo i thought was fairly decent decisions in the end that pretty much paid off

Platt's workrate is incredible and he looks really confident at the moment. DJ was back close to his best at last too.

those 3 chances (jordan crossbar, jordan 1 on 1 and platt flicked header wide) 2nd half cost us a win but after the defensive display from us 1st half we cant really be annoyed with a draw

their equaliser was pure class though perhaps our defence could have been stronger but still quality finish

shame we didnt test their keeper who had a nightmare. a few half chances were well blocked by the SYCOB defence. Jacko though didnt have an awful lot to do either

lets make sure we play like 2nd half for the full 90 against Burnham

Have to stay we rode our luck today..and why not for a change ! There were a few old faces in the crowd today and speaking after they enjoyed the game , infact for a nuteral supporter or someone who has not seen a Slough game for a long time, went home quite happy..and to be fair a fair result for both the teams...

A very good crowd too..so hopefully we will see a few return for our next home match...

Happy new year !

A decent performance and a fair result. We were quite lucky to go in 2-1 up but then deserved to score more in the second half when we had a really strong spell. They were organised and look set for a strong season. Looking forward to the Burnham match come Saturday.
