Saturdays predictions from the Dover forum:

http://www.dovorian.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8034&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Personally ,i think 2-0 to Dover, but cling to the hope and law of averages that Dover will draw a game soon and we may just scrape a pont.

Having said that, we are now in a position where we need 3 points no matter who we are playing.

Games are running out,and with all respect, i don't really fancy a Boxing day derby against Herne Bay next year

Whether it happens on Saturday remains to be seen but generally we put up better fights & do better against the more talented teams in this league.Performance-wise we DO put in better shows.

Lets hope,as you say Steve, the lads are up for it on the day.

If they give it a lot more than they did in the Ramsgate game, give it their very best, yet STILL lose then I for one will appreciate that.

There might be a gulf between our lads compared to theirs in terms of experience but sheer doggedness can overcome that in many cases.Talent-wise we are short on them too but we DO have some guys in there that are & can be dangerous on their day.

One thing is for certain,we are certainly much better than we showed in our last game & on the day...if we get stuck in & prevent them time on the ball.......who knows!

They are going to be a hard nut to crack but getting something from the game isn't beyond our capabilities. We have to be a hard nut to crack too on the day.

Were we really that bad last saturday ?

Frankly-even though only seeing about a quarter of our games; i reckon i have seen us play worse on at least 2/3 occasions.

Is it simply trhat it seemed worse because of the opposition and the 'occasion'

I agree we were not very special, but is it a case that the standard of play simply reflects the standard we are at most games these days.

Had we have achieved an undeserved win, would we then have been saying that we were so dire ?

Unfortunately, we did not get the result.

Stranger things have happened than we are even worse on saturday against Dover, get absolutely pummelled, mullins performs like a world beater, and we get a 93rd minute winner with a rebound off Shittus backside.

I'd just like to add that if they go in there with the wrong mental attitude thinking that "Oh well,we weren't expected to win this one anyway" then they are lost before they kick-off.

They have to go out there thinking they are at the very least equal to Dover, regardless of form.

Belief, workrate, concentration is required by them ALL & no silly needless fouls(especially around the penalty area either). We generally give far too many away..........needlessly.

Yes i.m.o. We failed to shoot in the first half with the wind at our backs.Oh sorry, one effort that trickled past the post. One shot all first 45 minutes. Then only a handful of efforts in the 2nd 45.
We never really looked like scoring truth be told. However I will say, that as bad as we played,we weren't overun despite that.

We'll always take 3 points Michael though no matter how they are achieved but after the event you HAVE to be honest.

If we play like we did last Saturday, a hammering is certainly on the cards. However, we shouldn't forget that it wasn't so long ago that fellow strugglers Harrow seemingly comfortably beat Dover (3-0). As the old adage goes, "It's a funny old game".

Possible is fluffy and like try it means you won't.

So what do the players need to do to go out and win for definate?

We all know they can do it-but can still leaves an excuse for not doing it.

THey simply need to go out knowing they MUST win, and realise both what it means to them if they win, and what it means to them if they lose;and the manager needs to ensure the former outweighs the latter.

TY needs to ensure that everyone realises that the consequences of winning are so good that they will do nothing else but win.

( and if that does'nt work-line up 16 Holly Willoughby's in the dressing room for a post match celebration )
