An FA Cup Protest Sub-Committee met today to consider the case of Droylsden FC.

 

The Sub-Committee ruled that in playing defender Sean Newton against Chesterfield in The FA Cup Second Round on Tuesday 23 December while the player was under suspension, Droylsden FC had breached FA Cup Rules and should be removed from this season's competition. Chesterfield will therefore play at Ipswich Town on Saturday 3 January 2009 in the Third Round.

That's true Mick, Manny Onmoyinmi was Cup Tied (Having come on as a sub for Gillingham whilst on loan) in a previous round. Then Harry threw him on as sub against Villa in the Semi-Final. You would have thought the player would have known he was cup tied???

Only one difference, which may or may not be a factor, the West Ham scenario was in the League Cup, not the FA Cup, so are bound by Footbal League rules as opposed to FA rules.

Bury were thrown out last season for pretty much the same thing as Droylsden. Here's the coincidence, both Bury and Droylsden were due to play Ipswich in the next round!!!!
