I believe the bar will open when the lovely bar-lady(person) arrives.

The burgers, however, are still under lock and key in my freezer !

They have to be professionally checked out which we have been unable to do so over the Christmas period.

Until I know the date and result of the inspection, I would suggest you work to a 2:00pm kick-off, though that sort of decision is not within my remit.

Dorking made it 9 wins in 10 games with a narrow victory over neighbours South Park, Dorking making heavy weather of the victory particularly in the closing stages of the second half as Chicks struggled to move up a gear or two and close the game out.

Still Dorking boss Tony Webb will know it was more important for his team to return to winning ways rather than produce a gilt edged display and the win leaves Dorking nicely placed tucked in behind the top 3 or 4 teams as Chicks enter the new year hopeful of mounting a sustained challenge in the aim of getting into the top 3 promotion places come the end of the season. Indeed with several games in hand on most rivals and having played less than half of their league games this season to date, Dorking look to have their fate in their own hands.

A season that started slowly, apart from the good FA Cup performances against Chatham Town which almost saw Dorking progress against their higher league opponents, has grown in stature as the campaign has progressed, the recent win over Ryman league Walton and Hersham in the Surrey Senior Cup showing the potential in the side. If the side can be kept together, Dorking can go into the second half of the season with optimism.

Webb has recently moved to add to his squad with ex AFC Wimbledon player Jones Bamfo joining the squad from neighbours Mole Valley SCR, Bamfo coming on as second half sub in this game to make his debut for Dorking.

Dorking went into Saturday's game against South Park anxious to get back to winning ways and hopes were high that Chicks could put on as entertaining a display as they had performed in the first game between the two sides back on the August Bank Holiday when Chicks won that game 4-3. As it turned out, the game was nothing like as entertaining as the August fixture, a dour encounter seemingly matching the freezing weather.

The only goal of the game came inside the opening five minutes when winger Baptiste Bogle notched the winner and for the opening half an hour it looked like it would be a question of how many Dorking would win by, but Dorking struggled to get out of second gear and gradually South Park got back into the game.

Dorking had their best spell of the game in the opening part of the second half, with Dorking's strike pair Dan Bennett and Phil Page looking lively and twice coming close to increasing Chicks lead. Even then Dorking were not playing the football they are capable of, but the second gear Dorking were playing in still seemed more than enough to claim all 3 points.

However, the last fifteen minutes saw Park raise their game, realising that only one goal stood between the two sides and sensing an unlikely point. Despite 3 substitutions by Webb including Martin Waldren and Andy Briant, several uncomfortable moments were suffered by Dorking as Park fought tooth and nail to get back in the game, and a great one handed save from Dorking keeper Dan Coote on 85 minutes kept the Dorking clean sheet intact.

The last action of the game saw Dan Bennett just blast the ball wide from the edge of the area after a long clearance from Coote cleared the Park defence, but a second goal for Chicks would have been harsh on a battling away side whose performance belied their lowly league placing.

Not a vintage performance by Dorking then, but another 3 points with which to end the year. Dorking travel to bottom side Chobham on Saturday 3rd. January for another league game. In other fixture news, Dorking will face Corinthian Casuals on Tuesday 20 January away from home in the next round of the Surrey Senior Cup after Dorking's home victory in December over Walton & Hersham.

thanks big jr,

you've got a great signing in jonesy, he's a great lad and would have been in our first team but for his lack of attendance in training. Tell him all the lads at Mole Valley miss him but wish him well ( except when he plays us )

Jones Bamfo! Used to watch him ply his trade in the AFCW ressies when they played at Banstead. I remember he had a 10 minute cameo in a first team game, when he came on and looked like a world beater - everyone thought he was the next big thing! Not sure he featured again mind you. I think he fell out with Dave Anderson soon after, seem to remember something on the official site although could be mixing him up with another.

Look forward to seeing him in the green and white!

granted about personal circumstances, but need to keep the squad happy by playing the lads who turn up even if they are not better players, dont think you should play them just because of quality alone commitment should be taken into account. As i've said best of luck to jonesy.
