TODAYS REFEREE!!!

Surprised no one has set a theme on this one.

A very poor ref today. Poor body language over fussy yapping to the players and i think he was to blame for a lot of the frustration.

He seemed to penalise FRESH AIR at times and then spent most to the second half evening all the decisions up as if it was a pair of scales.

Aaron should have gone first time for the head butt but a booking only showed how weak he was.

Coupled with this was a fussy linesman who gave so many shirt pulling decisions i thought he was out in the middle.

Then he thought he would even up and he kindly kept ruling their goals offside.

The girlie whistle blowing over Tako's excellent goal was pathetic.

And then Aaron's barge gave him the opportunity to red him.

I've been on HARLOWS website and not one of the fans has moaned about him!! Wow where were they??

I think the only decision the ref got right today was giving Quain and there number 2 i think it was a yellow card for the clash of heads, there player well over reacted and straight away afterwards the keeper tried to send Quain off and the rest of the Harlow players were clearly winding him up, so maybe Yorath should have taken him off but it didn't really matter in the end.

Oh yeah the only other thing the ref got right was their first red, there is no need to purposely foul a player from behind. Harlow really did disgust me today.

I can't help but think we just repeat ourselves when talking about refs, i think that is why people don't bother anymore

If that ref was consistent, it would've ended up 5 a side - I think their 2nd sending off and Quain's were inevitable.

Some of the bookings beggered belief. The guy was a bottler, pure and simple - he panicked every time he blew the whistle. How their number 3 stayed on the field for the second half I'll never know - He should've been gone at half time. If you let a player treat you like that without retort, you've b*ggered any chance of being respected - they'll crawl all over you after that.

But lets face it, you're not going to get premiership refs at Ryman level are you (and even they are appalling!)?

Must say before yesterday I though the standard of the officials had been better then last year, which I could only put down to the respect project.

A red card for the 3rd minute assault/wipe out would have been correct and would have set the mark for the game.

Really pleased their number 3 stayed on the pitch despite his advice, it just was not his day, a delight to watch him. Could be a effective player in the right team.

Quain was winding them up all second half until he was sent off, I saw him laughing at the defenders as if he was taunting them, good player though he is he has got to learn that p*** taking will get him sent off more times than his opposition, he doesn't need to do that as he has ability and was turning his full back all through the game.

Notwithstanding his indiscipline, i'm just pleased to read that he has ability, because in the (few ) games i have seen him, frankly he has never really impressed me or lived up to the mild hype.

Hopefully, he can sort the petulance out, but in particular, play consistently well

Agree Tom.His strength is that he is able to out-pace a full back & put in some telling crosses.Great shot on him too.

He just seems to need urging into doing it rather than him making the decision himself. Sometimes, rather than trying to take the ball close up with him he should push the ball past the full back & chase as he can certainly out-pace defenders.

As for the other part of his game.He also needs to concentrate more.Once yesterday he was complaining about a throw-in to the lino & the opposition took a quick free kick & he was left still arguing rather than chasing back.He did this in a previous match where he was going to take a quick free-kick but was told to leave it.He shrugged his shoulders & we take the kick but he was still remonstrating about it to others.

My advice to Aaron (for what its worth) is to get on with the game & leave decisions by officials to them. They're not gonna change their minds.

As I said elsewhere & some have agreed,Aaron could be good, very very good if he learns, concentrates more & cuts this big boy act.Less of the guaranteed dozen or more free-kicks he carelessly & needlessly gives gives away each game too.He could do himself a favour by taking a leaf out of Erskine's book.Very hard in the tackle but perfect timing

Aaron needs to concentrate on the skill he undoubtedly has. Now he needs to show it.We are full of expectations of him after last season.

I'm not intentionally having a pop at him here but just trying to help his game, from what I've noticed (in my own humble way).

As for this being a thread about yesterdays referee, yes he was whistle happy but even these kind of refs decisions need to be accepted.

While people are voicing their opinions on Aaron (great debate by the way) I thought I'd like to add that it's good to see him showing his ability week in week out finally.

And GT, if he can wind the defenders up by laughing at them, and encourage them to lash out then thats fine by me. As long as he can control his own temper, which clearly needs working on a bit. Maybe he needs to learn this as he's young. Discipline is all part of the learning process.

For me the main strengths of Aaron's game are his shooting - he's got a bullet shot which I've felt the pain of (nearly broke my fingers) - and also his running down the wing. I'd like to see him take the ball to the byline a little more, rather than lay it back. Think we all love to see him annoy the right backs! Let's not forget that the Harlow players were dishing out stick all day long.

He's making good progress and starting to fulfil his potential from what I can see.

Whilst on the subject of the ref, can anyone remember what cards he handed out to our players?

I recall it as

ERSKINE

HARWOOD

QUAIN X 2

but I am sure there were a couple more.

Steve
