How vocal are you ?

Just browsing wycombe forum and the discussion by the luton town fans (who seem renowned for making a lot of noise) was are fans more vocal away from home.

The luton fans were a bit surprised that the wycombe fans didnt seem to get behind their team even though they are top of the league and luton are bottom with minus points, which begs the question when things are desperate do some fans get behind their team more (i remember wimbledon a few seasons ago)and some get on the manager and teams back.

I suppose ground accoustics play a part,not always easy to make a lot of noise when very little cover.

Away fans, especially in the lower leagues, nearly always try to be more vocal than the home fans.

 

They are normally fewer in numbers and try to make an impression on the home fans that, although they are fewer in numbers, they can be more vocal thus gaining the first advantage.

I wouldn't pay much attention to Luton fans! A couple of years ago for their last home game against Sunderland half their season ticket holders sold their seats to away fans!

Away fans make more noise than when they are at home because when teams are at home, a lot of fans have other duties around the ground and don't get the chance to stand behind the goal, or wherever, and chant with the diehards.

Depends on the ground. With covering a few voices can go a very long way! However when we are down the uncovered end at Holloways you can barely hear a thing no matter how loud we chant!
